  CIA Secretary General Kimmo Mattila announces that the 2022 Coupe Mondiale online entry system is now open for entries to the 75th Coupe Mondiale from the 2022 General Competition Rules page: 2022CM-RulesCIA President Mirco Patarini invites all (45) CIA members to register delegates to the 148th International Congress of Delegates which meets twice in Zofingen, Switzerland. President Patarini also invites competitors from all nations to please lodge their entries well before the closing date to assist the organisers for what will certainly be a great Coupe Mondiale. The 75th Coupe Mondiale will be held from 4-9 October 2022 in Zofingen, Switzerland hosted by the Swiss CIA member accordeon.ch. President Yvonne Glur and CIA delegate and Vice-President Ruedi Marty welcomes everyone to Zofingen and the excellent facilities and halls for competitions and concerts.  Video: Marco Lo Russo live concert “Made in Italy” Linguistic Variations at the Mutua Theater, Carloforte and Diocesan Arborense Museum, Oristano, Sardinia, Italy.Marco Lo Russo will perform at the 58th Pontino Music Festival 2022 held at the Gardens of the Municipality in Latina, Italy from July 2nd to 31st, 2022 and organised by the International Music Campus. The concert will be held on July 30th at 9pm and feature a solo “Made in Italy” program of “original music, transcriptions and arrangements of Italian music from classical to world music, passing through jazz pieces, original soundtracks and compositions by Lo Russo himself”.  The Deutscher Harmonika-Verband e.V (DHV), one of the larger accordion associations in the world, has a new home office in Trossingen. On June 19th, 2022, the new Kompetenzzentrum für Amateurmusik Trossingen (Competence Center for Amateur Music Trossingen) was ceremoniously opened after one and a half years of construction. The new building (photo above by Ralf Pfründer) is a strong signal for cultural education in rural areas and houses the office of the DHV, the Bundesmusikverband Chor & Orchester (BMCO) and the Landes-Hackbrett-Bund Baden-Württemberg. DHV President Jochen Haußmann MdL is pleased: "Amateur music is carried with great passion by many voluntary contributors. With the Kompetenzzentrum für Amateurmusik Trossingen, we have taken an important step into the future. The music town of Trossingen will be further strengthened and the Federal Music Association will continue to have its headquarters in Baden-Württemberg as the umbrella organization for amateur music in Germany, thus creating a contact point for the 14.3 million people who make music in their free time".  On 16th June 2022, the Vienna Philharmonic's Summer Night Concert took place in Schönbrunn Palace Park in Vienna, Austria. Around 65,000 visitors listened to the open-air concert, which was conducted for the first time by Andris Nelson. Their program included works by Ludwig van Beethoven, Mykola Lysenko, Arturs Maskats, Camille Saint-Saëns, Gioacchino Rossini, George Enescu, Bedrich Smetana, Antonin Dvorák and Johann Strauß. In view of the war in Ukraine, their message was “International understanding through music”! Alfred Melichar (picture right), accordion professor at the Bruckner Privat-University in Linz, was invited to perform Arturs Maskats’ “Tango for symphonic orchestra”. |

Aotango Debut Concerts Sell Out Success - New Zealandby Harley Jones |
 Video: Muerte del Ángel by Astor Piazzolla. ‘Ao’, the Maori word for ‘world’ is at the epicentre of Aotango. Grayson Masefield (picture left) is part of a new group called Aotango, an exciting quintet specialising in Tango and World Music. Aotango’s members include Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra (APO) Concertmaster Andrew Beer, APO Section Principal Bass Gordon Hill, NZTrio pianist Somi Kim, jazz guitarist Sam Swindells and multi world champion accordionist Grayson Masefield. Aotango debut concerts sponsored by the APO titled "Piazzolla Tangos In Your Neighbourhood" were held on: • June 13th at St Heliers Church, Auckland • June 14th at Titirangi War Memorial Hall, Auckland were a great success to cheers and long applause from the audience. |

| The Concertino Accordion Band performed at the 5th "DescOpera" outdoor classical music festival held in Butuceni, Moldova from June 17th to 19th, 2022. Their performance was part of a modern production of the famous opera "Carmen" by Bizet, along with performers Ljubica Vranes (Serbia), Dragoljub Bajic (Serbia), narrator Nicolae Jelescu, the Academic Choral Chapel "Doina" (led by Ilona Stepan), the Children's Choir of the National Opera and Ballet Theatre "Maria Biesu" and the National Philharmonic "Serghei Lunchevici". The event was organized by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Moldova in partnership with the National Association for Inbound Tourism of Moldova (ANTRIM) and with the support of the Light Industry competitiveness support and tourism activity (MCTA), funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). |

| The 1st Accordion Festival was successfully held at the Bernardim Ribeiro Theatre in Estremoz, Évora, Portugal on June 18th and 19th, 2022. The event, organized by the Municipality of Estremoz, was held in conjunction with the centenary celebrations of the Teatro Bernardim Ribeiro. Performers included the Valencia Accordion Group de Alcántara (Spain), António Charrinho, Carlos Poeiras and Andreia Sofia. |

| The Accordion Society of Australia presented a concert at Box Hill, Victoria, Australia on June 17th in conjunction with The Boite multicultural music organisation. The concert entitled “Tangos to Turkey”, included a “selection of music from Argentinian tango (by Piazzolla) to the melismatic tunes of the Middle East” by Stephen Cutriss (bandoneon) and Amy Lynch (piano). In addition, accordionist Phil Carroll performed a variety of French, Italian, jazz and Balkan music styles, accompanied by drummer and percussionist David Joseph. |

 Accordionist and vocalist George Butrumlis will perform in the Cabaret Theatre production: Robyn Archer: An Australian Songbook at the Bille Brown Theatre - Queensland Theatre in South Brisbane, Australia. The production began on June 25th and will run through to July 9th, 2022.The Australia Arts Review included an article on Robyn Archer who says “Some of the songs I wrote, some I knew, and then I sought some that might reflect certain periods of the 200 years the song list covers.” The trio of George Butrumlis (accordion), Cameron Goodall (guitar and vocals) and Enio Pozzebon (keyboards and vocals) will accompany Robyn Archer during the show. |

| Two Weekend Accordion courses will be held at Halsway Manor in Crowcombe, England from July 1st to 3rd, 2022. The first is a Beginners Weekend Course run by Jane Ward. This course will cover simple technique to ensure the best start to playing the accordion. The weekend will be taught by ear and with music. The second is an Intermediate & Advanced Course with Amy Thatcher, Paul Hutchinson and Murray Grainger (picture top). This course will include a packed programme of workshops offering participants the opportunity to work with all three tutors, honing technique, repertoire and interpretation of folk tunes and accompaniment.
