 Video: Muerte del Ángel by Astor Piazzolla. ‘Ao’, the Maori word for ‘world’ is at the epicentre of Aotango. Grayson Masefield (picture left) is part of a new group called Aotango, an exciting quintet specialising in Tango and World Music. Aotango’s members include Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra (APO) Concertmaster Andrew Beer, APO Section Principal Bass Gordon Hill, NZTrio pianist Somi Kim, jazz guitarist Sam Swindells and multi world champion accordionist Grayson Masefield. Aotango debut concerts sponsored by the APO titled "Piazzolla Tangos In Your Neighbourhood" were held on: • June 13th at St Heliers Church, Auckland • June 14th at Titirangi War Memorial Hall, Auckland were a great success to cheers and long applause from the audience. |
