Les Nuits de Nacre Festival, Tulle – Limousin/Frankreichby Rob Howard

Das 23. Nuits de Nacre Akkordeon Festival findet vom 16-19 September in der Stadt Tulle, in der Region Limousin. Das Festival umfasst achtzig Konzerte und Veranstaltungen in vielen Lokalitäten, darunter die Kathedrale. Die meisten der Aufführungen sind kostenlos und werden im Freien abgehalten. Das Programm beginnt am späten Nachmittag und endet in den frühen Morgenstunden.
Les Nuits des Nacres bietet Musik aller Art: Jazz, Musette, Rock, Celtic, Swing und Cajun. Die Gäste in diesem Jahr sind: Prowpuskovic, La Milca (mit der Akkordeonist Domi Emorine), Les Denicheurs, Les Filles du bord de scène, Richard Galliano, Chloé Lacan, Illico Presto, Jigajack Musette, Les Gonelons, Quartett Pierre Mussi, Gallina La Lupa, Les Garçons Trottoirs, Manaswing, Thierry Svahn, Orchestre Mathieu Martinie, BATpointG, Paris-Moskau Duo, Emilie Cadiou, Duo Karine et Fabrice Charpentier, Orchestre Rémi Sallard (featuring Altero Betti), La Maïnada, Les Enfants de Tulle, Johnny Clegg, Die Bavest , Caroline Loeb, Manaswing, Ni vu ni connue, Le Bal des Martine, Gufo, Olivier Manoury, Orchestre Christian Peschel, Azzango, Juliette Greco, Nos Zigues und Bogdan Nesterenko.
Weiters gibt es Filme, Tanz, Workshops und kostenlose Führungen durch die Fabrik Maugein Akkordeon. Das Tulle Akkordeon-Museum ist eine weitere Attraktion mit Akkordeons von Marc Bonel, Begleiter von Edith Piaf über viele Jahre hindurch. |
Satumaa – Musik aus der Heimat des Tango - Deutschlandby Harley Jones

 Kimmo Mattila, Akkordeon und Aino Ojakoski, Bratsche Konzerttournee der Deutsch-Finnischen Gesellschaft e.V. vom 17. bis 27. September 2010.
„Satumaa – Musik aus der Heimat des Tango“ – so lautet der vielversprechende Name des Programms des ungewöhnlichen finnischen Duos bestehend aus der jungen Bratschistin Aino Ojakoski und dem Meister des Akkordeons Kimmo Mattila. Beide Musiker stammen aus Ikaalinen, der Heimatstadt finnischer Akkordeon- und Spielmannsmusik und Austragungsort des international bekannten Akkordeonfestivals „Sata-Häme Soi“.
Für alle Zweifler: Finnland ist die Heimat des Tango, zumindest des finnischen Tango, der melancholischen und langsamer getanzten Variante des argentinischen Tangos. Unbestritten ist Finnland jedoch das am Tango begeisterteste Land der Welt – fast jeder kann in Finnland Tango tanzen und tut dies auch in Restaurants und auf Ausflugsschiffen, bei privaten Feiern sowie beim nachmittäglichen After-Work-Tanz, auf Tangofestivals oder bei den großen Tangomärkten, auf denen jedes Jahr der Tangokönig oder die Tangokönigin Finnlands gekrönt werden.
Mit ihrem Programm „Satumaa“, auf deutsch Märchenland, bringen die beiden Meisterinterpreten traditioneller finnischer Tanzmelodien nicht nur den berühmtesten aller finnischen Tangos sondern ein ganzes Tangoprogramm nach Deutschland. Auf der Konzerttournee der Deutsch-Finnischen Gesellschaft e.V. durch 12 Städte präsentiert das zum ersten Mal in Deutschland auftretende Duo neben bekannten Tangomelodien auch Spielmannsmusik und berühmte finnische Schlager- und Filmmusik. Gespielt werden außerdem argentinische Melodien des bekannten Bandeonisten Astor Piazzolla sowie internationale Melodien mit finnischer
Interpretation.
Gegründet wurde das Duo 2007, als anlässlich des Akkordeonfestivals „Sata -Häme Soi“ in Ikaalinen 2007 aus der näheren Umgebung eine kleine aber gute Band
gesucht wurde. „Wegen des fehlenden offiziellen Namens für die Band, nannten wir es spaßeshalber das ‚Duo Sata- Häme Soi – Festivalbüro’“, erzählen die beiden Musiker, die
seitdem regelmäßig als Duo auftraten. Bratsche und Akkordeon sind eine ungewöhnliche Zusammensetzung, die sich aber musikalisch als ausgezeichnet erwies: „Der dunkle und volle Klang der Bratsche gibt dem scharfen Ton des Akkordeons einen guten Kontrast oder auch andersherum. Die Tonfarben dieser zwei Instrumente
verschmelzen nahtlos miteinander.“, führen die Musiker weiter aus.

Paris Moscou Duo nächsten Festivalauftritte, Auvergne/Tulle – Franceby Rob Howard

Das Festival "Contre Plongees 'ist ein Sommer Arts Festival in Clermont-Ferrand, Auvergne mit verschiedenen Events an Musik, Theater, Film, Tanz und Zirkus.
Am Donnerstag, den 19. August spielte das Paris-Moskau Duo (Domi Emorine und Roman Jbanov) im Place de la Jaude im Zentrum der Stadt. Das Duo interpretierte russisch-französische Stücke und gaben bei dieser Gelegenheit die Veröffentlichung ihrer neuen CD im September bekannt.
Der nächste Auftritt des beliebten Paris Moscow Duos (www.accordeon.com / Duo) ist bei dem jährlichen Französisch-Russisch "Sancybérie 'Festival (www.sancyberie.com Ausführung) in Auvergne, vom 4. bis 13 September sowie am 17. September auf dem Festival "Les Nuits de Nacre" in Tulle.

Lars Karlsson and Øivind Farmen Tour Swedenby Rob Howard

Last week the Swedish diatonic player Lars Karlsson and the Norwegian bayan player Øivind Farmen made a very successful tour of Sweden. Six concerts were performed with a repertoire of great variety, from classical to folk music, with a combination of duos and solos. The music included works like ‘Sonata in A major’ (D. Scarlatti), ‘Mickes idépolska’ (M. Nolervik), ‘Polska efter Byss-Kalle’ (trad.), and a number of the artists’ own works. In the middle of September they go for a new concert tour, this time both in Norway and Sweden.
Lars Karlsson, from a folk music background, was Nordic Diatonic Champion in 1993, and active as both a player and a composer. Øivind Farmen is classically trained, and his contest successes most notably include winning the 1996 Trophée Mondiale in Faro, Portugal.

Accordionists Ken Astin and Harry Hussey have released a new CD, ‘Just Friends’, which is an acoustic recording, unlike their previous CD, which featured lots of MIDI sounds. This album is jazz played very much in the style of Harry Hussey, whose improvisation shines through this meeting of maestros.
The tracks include ‘Just Friends’, ‘Here’s That Rainy Day’, ‘I’m Old Fashioned’, ‘I Should Care’, ‘History of Love’, ‘The Folks Who Live On The Hill’, ‘The Boy Next Door’, ‘Frenesi’, ‘Deep Purple’, ‘Fine and Dandy’, ‘A Certain Smile’, ‘Body and Soul’, ‘Traditional Musette’, ‘Isn’t It Romantic?’, ‘Robbins Nest’, ‘Tangerine’, ‘Am I Wasting My Time On You?’, ‘Long Ago and Far Away’, and ‘My Blue Heaven’.

James Crabb Concerts – Scotland, Irelandby Rob Howard

 Copenhagen-based accordionist James Crabb performs at the Edinburgh International Festival on Monday August 30th, 9.30pm. This will be a solo recital in which James Crabb performs works by US composers John Zorn and Aaron Copland alongside the music of Astor Piazzolla. The venue is The Hub, Castle Hill, Edinburgh EH12NE, Scotland.
On September 17th, 8pm, James Crabb performs as guest soloist with the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra at the National Concert Hall, Earlsfort Terrace, Dublin. The concert, titled ‘L’America’, includes works by Villa-Lobos – ‘Bachianas Brasileiras No. 4’, Astor Piazzolla - ‘Oblivion’ and ‘Concierto de Aconcagua’, and Leonard Bernstein – ‘Symphonic Dances from West Side Story’.
A concert built around the sounds and rhythms of Latin and North America, James Crabb will perform the major masterpiece written for the classical accordion, Piazzolla’s sultry ‘Concierto de Aconcagua’. Partnered with ‘Latin American Bach’ and some of the most memorable melodies from the stage in West Side Story, this concert will see the RTÉ NSO bend rhythms and kick into syncopations like a New York jazz combo!

Sergio Scappini teaches accordion at the ‘Giuseppe Verdi Music Academy in Milan and regularly appears at such famous venues as Teatro alla Scala (Milan), Teatro Lirico, Teatro delle Erbe- Foro Bonaparte, Auditorium ‘G. Verdi’, Museo della Scala di Milan, etc. Sergio Scappini has taught master classes in Italy, China, North Korea, Spain, the Czech Republic, and Switzerland.
Accompanying Sergio for the tour will be Roland Europe's V-Accordion Product Manager Marco Cinaglia and Roland U.S. V-Accordion Product Specialist Steve Albini.

The Salford Folk Music Workshop meets on the first Friday evening of the month. On September 3rd, 7.45 pm, the evening will be led by accordionist John Trigg, who will guide all present through a selection of Scottish Dance Music. Music will be provided, and the programme includes:

 The festival ‘Accordion Extravaganza’ takes place from September 24th to 26th in Edmonton, Alberta. The organisers are the Edmonton Accordion Society.
On September 24th, 7.30pm, at Central Lions Seniors Recreation Centre, 11113-113 Street, Edmonton, the opening event is ‘Accordion Grandstand. The Mattierin School of Irish Dancing, accompanied by accordionist Mervin Bell, begin the concert with a showcase the joy of Irish dancing.
The concert features ‘The Big Band’ (MD Margaret Miller), combining the players from Of One Accord Ensemble, Friends & Neighbors Band, Party Pals Accordion Quartet, and other accomplished players. The star of the evening will be virtuoso accordionist Michael Bridge, who has appeared at the Las Vegas International Accordion Convention and at the Leavenworth International Accordion Festival.
The festival on September 25th and 26th is at South East Edmonton Seniors Centre (SEESA), 9350 - 82 Street, Edmonton. On Saturday there will be competitions from 9am until 12noon, and on Sunday from 9am until 4pm. Accordions and comedy collide in the Novelty Class on Sunday afternoon as the contestants may appear in costume, perform skits, sing and dance while playing their accordions. The grand finale on Sunday will be the Open Championship.
The festival also includes Open Stage (on Saturday afternoon), an improvisation workshop with Michael Bridge at 2pm on Saturday afternoon, and a dance in the evening, 8pm, with The Cimarrons.
The festival trade show includes representation by Tonaveri, Guerrini, Hohner and Roland. Some antique accordions may also be on display.
