Miembros de la anterior edición se unirán junto a otros muchos acordeonistas internacionales, incluyendo a los representantes y delegados de la Confédéreation Internationale des Accordéonistes que atenderán al congreso de la CIA.
Si lo desean, ya pueden inscribirse a través de la página web del concurso. Les Nuits de Nacre Festival, Tulle-Franciaby Rob Howard

Del 16 al 19 de septiembre, dará lugar una vez más el festival Les Nuits de Nacre en Tulle, región de Correze. El festival cuenta con ocho conciertos y diferentes eventos que se desarrollaran en lugares como la catedral de la ciudad y en espacios al aire libre, siendo la gran mayoría de entrada gratuita.
El festival ofrecerá gran variedad de artistas tanto franceses como de calado internacional en estilos como el jazz, musette, rock, celtic, swing and cajun.  “Satumaa-Música desde la Casa del Tango” es el prometedor nombre del repertorio del duo finlandés Aino Ojakoski (violín) y Kimmo Mattila (acordeón)
Ambos músicos son originarios de Ikaalinen, la “casa” del acordeón Finlandés y es también el lugar que acoge el al importante concurso Sata-Häme Soi”
La sociedad Germano-finlandesa presenta 12 conciertos en Alemania en los cuales Satumaa interpretará famosos tangos, música pop finlandesa y música de películas.

El “Contre Plongees” es un festival de artes celebrado en Clermont Ferrand que incluye música, teatro, cine, danza y espectáculos circenses.
El pasado 19 de Agosto, el Dúo Paris-Moscú (Domi Emorine y Roman Jbanov) actuaron acompañando a un espectáculo de circo. El Dúo interpretó obras francesas y rusas anunciando así la publicación de un nuevo Cd en Septiembre.
El Dúo Paris-Moscú aparecerá también en el “Sancybérie Festival” ((www.sancyberie.com) del 4 al 13 de Septiembre y el día 17 en el “Les Nuits de Nacre” en Tulle.

Lars Karlsson and Øivind Farmen Tour Swedenby Rob Howard

Last week the Swedish diatonic player Lars Karlsson and the Norwegian bayan player Øivind Farmen made a very successful tour of Sweden. Six concerts were performed with a repertoire of great variety, from classical to folk music, with a combination of duos and solos. The music included works like ‘Sonata in A major’ (D. Scarlatti), ‘Mickes idépolska’ (M. Nolervik), ‘Polska efter Byss-Kalle’ (trad.), and a number of the artists’ own works. In the middle of September they go for a new concert tour, this time both in Norway and Sweden.
Lars Karlsson, from a folk music background, was Nordic Diatonic Champion in 1993, and active as both a player and a composer. Øivind Farmen is classically trained, and his contest successes most notably include winning the 1996 Trophée Mondiale in Faro, Portugal.

Harry Hussey and Ken Astin’s new CD, Blackpool - UKby Rob Howard

Accordionists Ken Astin and Harry Hussey have released a new CD, ‘Just Friends’, which is an acoustic recording, unlike their previous CD, which featured lots of MIDI sounds. This album is jazz played very much in the style of Harry Hussey, whose improvisation shines through this meeting of maestros.
The tracks include ‘Just Friends’, ‘Here’s That Rainy Day’, ‘I’m Old Fashioned’, ‘I Should Care’, ‘History of Love’, ‘The Folks Who Live On The Hill’, ‘The Boy Next Door’, ‘Frenesi’, ‘Deep Purple’, ‘Fine and Dandy’, ‘A Certain Smile’, ‘Body and Soul’, ‘Traditional Musette’, ‘Isn’t It Romantic?’, ‘Robbins Nest’, ‘Tangerine’, ‘Am I Wasting My Time On You?’, ‘Long Ago and Far Away’, and ‘My Blue Heaven’.

 Roland Europe SpA and Roland Corporation organize 4th fourth national ROLAND V-Accordion Festival for accordion soloists on September 11th at the Federal Academy of Trossingen.
The Jury members include Slavko Avsenik Jr, Konstantin Ischenko, Professor Ulrich Schmülling, Dieter Witz, and Peter Müller. The competition lasts from 3.30pm until 7pm.

James Crabb Concerts – Scotland, Irelandby Rob Howard

 Copenhagen-based accordionist James Crabb performs at the Edinburgh International Festival on Monday August 30th, 9.30pm. This will be a solo recital in which James Crabb performs works by US composers John Zorn and Aaron Copland alongside the music of Astor Piazzolla. The venue is The Hub, Castle Hill, Edinburgh EH12NE, Scotland.
On September 17th, 8pm, James Crabb performs as guest soloist with the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra at the National Concert Hall, Earlsfort Terrace, Dublin. The concert, titled ‘L’America’, includes works by Villa-Lobos – ‘Bachianas Brasileiras No. 4’, Astor Piazzolla - ‘Oblivion’ and ‘Concierto de Aconcagua’, and Leonard Bernstein – ‘Symphonic Dances from West Side Story’.
A concert built around the sounds and rhythms of Latin and North America, James Crabb will perform the major masterpiece written for the classical accordion, Piazzolla’s sultry ‘Concierto de Aconcagua’. Partnered with ‘Latin American Bach’ and some of the most memorable melodies from the stage in West Side Story, this concert will see the RTÉ NSO bend rhythms and kick into syncopations like a New York jazz combo!

Sergio Scappini teaches accordion at the ‘Giuseppe Verdi Music Academy in Milan and regularly appears at such famous venues as Teatro alla Scala (Milan), Teatro Lirico, Teatro delle Erbe- Foro Bonaparte, Auditorium ‘G. Verdi’, Museo della Scala di Milan, etc. Sergio Scappini has taught master classes in Italy, China, North Korea, Spain, the Czech Republic, and Switzerland.
Accompanying Sergio for the tour will be Roland Europe's V-Accordion Product Manager Marco Cinaglia and Roland U.S. V-Accordion Product Specialist Steve Albini.

The Salford Folk Music Workshop meets on the first Friday evening of the month. On September 3rd, 7.45 pm, the evening will be led by accordionist John Trigg, who will guide all present through a selection of Scottish Dance Music. Music will be provided, and the programme includes:

 Stockport Accordion Club present the talented and versatile accordion entertainer Jovan Rnjak in concert on Wednesday September 8th, 8pm.

 The festival ‘Accordion Extravaganza’ takes place from September 24th to 26th in Edmonton, Alberta. The organisers are the Edmonton Accordion Society.
On September 24th, 7.30pm, at Central Lions Seniors Recreation Centre, 11113-113 Street, Edmonton, the opening event is ‘Accordion Grandstand. The Mattierin School of Irish Dancing, accompanied by accordionist Mervin Bell, begin the concert with a showcase the joy of Irish dancing.
The concert features ‘The Big Band’ (MD Margaret Miller), combining the players from Of One Accord Ensemble, Friends & Neighbors Band, Party Pals Accordion Quartet, and other accomplished players. The star of the evening will be virtuoso accordionist Michael Bridge, who has appeared at the Las Vegas International Accordion Convention and at the Leavenworth International Accordion Festival.
The festival on September 25th and 26th is at South East Edmonton Seniors Centre (SEESA), 9350 - 82 Street, Edmonton. On Saturday there will be competitions from 9am until 12noon, and on Sunday from 9am until 4pm. Accordions and comedy collide in the Novelty Class on Sunday afternoon as the contestants may appear in costume, perform skits, sing and dance while playing their accordions. The grand finale on Sunday will be the Open Championship.
The festival also includes Open Stage (on Saturday afternoon), an improvisation workshop with Michael Bridge at 2pm on Saturday afternoon, and a dance in the evening, 8pm, with The Cimarrons.
The festival trade show includes representation by Tonaveri, Guerrini, Hohner and Roland. Some antique accordions may also be on display.
