März bis 5. April 2024 das 6. Internationale Akkordeon-Kultur- und Kunstfestival „Shanghai Spring“ und die Shanghai International Accordion Art Week 2024 statt. An den Veranstaltungen nahmen Top-Akkordeonkünstler aus Shanghai, dem Jangtse-Delta, Peking-Tianjin-Hebei sowie acht Ländern teil, darunter Italien, Russland, Kanada, Neuseeland und Bosnien und Herzegowina, die sich in Changning zu hervorragenden Auftritten bei 14 Konzerten/Aktivitäten versammelten . Die Veranstaltungen haben deutlich gezeigt, dass Changning das Image und die kulturelle Soft Power eines internationalen Boutique-Stadtgebiets mit weltweitem Einfluss hat! Die Organisationsleiterin des Shanghai Accordion Art Festival 2024 war Crystal Wang. Dieses hervorragend organisierte Festival bot viele interaktive Aktivitäten mit der Bevölkerung und präsentierte das Akkordeon sehr erfolgreich. | Das 18. Eidgenössische Akkordeon-Musikfestival (EAMF) 2024 findet am 1. und 2. Juni 2024 in Sursee, Schweiz, statt und wird von accordeon.ch (Schweizerischer Akkordeonverband) organisiert. Die Veranstaltung umfasst Wettbewerbe (mit der Teilnahme von 63 Orchestern), 30 Open-Air-Konzerte im Zentrum von Sursee und eine Instrumentenausstellung. Unter anderem treten das JAO (Schweizerisches Akkordeon-Jugendorchester), Willis Wyberkapelle (Willi Valotti), Martin Soom, COM|PA|SS, Handorgelclub Obbürgen, Zentralschweizer Akkordeon-Studentenorchester (Leitung Inga Piwowarska) und das Schweizerische Akkordeonorchester SAO (Leitung Lionel Chapuis) auf.  Was planen Sie für den Weltakkordeon-Tag, um das Akkordeon in Ihrem Land zu fördern? Der Weltakkordeon-Tag ist am 6. Mai, dem Tag, an dem das Akkordeon 1829 patentiert wurde.Der Weltakkordeon-Tag wurde 2009 von der Confédération Internationale des Accordéonistes (CIA) ins Leben gerufen und bisher sehr erfolgreich, was für das Akkordeon viel positive Resonanz brachte. Ein wichtiger Teil dieser Veranstaltung ist die Website des World Accordion Day. Jeder Verein, jede Gruppe, jedes Orchester, Performer und Lehrer wird gebeten, diese Veranstaltung aktiv zu unterstützen, indem er nationale und lokale Akkordeonaktivitäten an diesem Tag oder am Wochenende, vor oder nach demAkkordeon-Tages, falls dies besser in ein Programm passen sollte. Jeder kann seine Aktivitäten zum Weltakkordeon-Tag auf der Website registrieren und danach einen Bericht über seine Veranstaltung verfassen. Keine Veranstaltung ist zu groß oder zu klein. ALLE Akkordeonveranstaltungen zum Weltakkordeontag sind herzlich willkommen.   At the recent CIA Winter Congress, Ingvar Karlsson, the founder of Karlssons Musik, Sweden, was awarded the CIA "Honored Friend of the Accordion Award" for his outstanding contributions to the international accordion movement.Ingvar Karlsson was nominated for this honor by the Sveriges Dragspelares Riksförbund. Ingvar Karlsson (b 1940) started in 1970 the company Karlssons Musik and since both he and his wife Siv played accordion, the specific choice of instrument was natural. Ingvar also had his own “gammaldans-orchestra” for many years and has performed in Swedish Television with his family too. Ingvar was also a pioneer and he wanted to have smaller and lighter accordions long before any other company worked seriously with this matter. He put a lot of pressure on mainly the Italian manufacturer Pigini to make more compact and lighter instruments for the Swedish brand Dise from 1980. Over the years, the family connection to the business has continued with his two sons Lars and Sven Karlsson working in the business for many years.  Akkordeon Grenzenlos, eine Veranstaltung des Hohner-Konservatoriums Trossingen, hat sich in wenigen Jahren zu einem Fixpunkt in der internationalen Akkordeonwelt entwickelt. Das Festival ist durch eine Vielzahl von Konzerten, Workshops und Foren zu einem weithin wahrgenommenen kulturellen Höhepunkt geworden. Erstmalig in diesem Jahr wurde in Kooperation mit dem Deutschen Harmonika-Verband auch ein hochkarätiger Wettbewerb abgehalten. Der Besuch von Akkordeon Grenzenlos stellte somit für alle Teilnehmer:innen ein ganzheitliches Erlebnis dar, wodurch wichtige Impulse für die weitere eigene Beschäftigung mit dem Instrument Akkordeon vermittelt wurden.Die Workshops mit hochkarätigen Dozenten wandten sich an Spieler:innen aller Harmonikainstrumente wie Akkordeon, Mundharmonika, Steirische Harmonika, Diatonische aber auch Spieler:innen anderer Instrumente. Tian Long Li widmete sich dem Genre des Jazz, Matthias Matzke entführte in die Welt des Rock und Pop und allen Fans von brasilianischer Akkordeonmusik vermittelte Alex Almeida die Grundlagen des mitreißenden Musikstils Forró. Allen Akkordeonpädagogen bot sich außerdem der Sonderworkshop „A new technical approach“ an, in dem der weltweit gefragte Frédéric Déschamps seine Expertise teilte und wertvolle Impulse für die Unterrichtspraxis gab. Die Wettbewerbsteilnehmer in drei Kategorien – Klassik, Popular und Ensemble - haben mit großem Engagement und Fairness um ihre Platzierungen gekämpft, was das Festival zu einem unvergesslichen Erlebnis voller Spannung gemacht hat. Die drei besten jeder Kategorie bestritten die Finalrunden im Rahmen eines öffentlichen Wettbewerbskonzerts. Alle Siegerplätze waren mit Geldpreisen dotiert, dem Gewinner bzw. der Gewinnerin der Kategorie Klassik winkte zudem ein Konzertengagement beim World Music Festival 2025 in Innsbruck. Vladimir Stupnikov (Russland), Fe Fritschi (Deutschland) sowie das polnische Duo Bukojemska&Majchrowski (Violine/Akkordeon) erspielten sich die ersten Preise in ihren jeweiligen Kategorien. Zbigniew Ignaczewski (Polen), Andreas Nebl (Deutschland), Frédéric Deschamps (Frankreich), Ladislav Horak (Tschechien), Dr. Herbert Scheibenreif (Österreich), Zoran Rakic (Serbien) und Marko Sevarlic (Serbien) bildeten die internationale Jury. Die Abendkonzerte boten vielfältige Akkordeonmusik mit den Workshopdozenten, mit Schüler:innen des Hohner-Konservatoriums sowie den Finalisten des Wettbewerbs. Im Rahmen einer Jam Session konnten Musiker verschiedener Stilrichtungen auf der Bühne gemeinsam musizieren. Im Abschlusskonzert präsentierte das renommierte Duo Klaus Paier (Akkordeon) und Asja Valcic (Cello) sein Programm „Vision for Two“. Umrahmt wurde das Festival von Führungen im Harmonika Museum und bei Hohner sowie einer Notenausstellung. Konservatoriums-Direktor Eric Dann sowie Jury-Manager Andreas Nebl ist zur erfolgreichen Ausrichtung von Akkordeon Grenzenlos 2024 herzlich zu gratulieren. Übrigens, Akkordeon Grenzenlos 2025 wird vom 22. bis 26. April stattfinden! Save the date! |

In March 2024, Alise performed at a RAM concert with the string quintet playing: ‘Opel Concerto’ (Galliano), ‘Nocturne’ (Rolfi) and ‘Tango Sensations’ (Piazzolla). This was followed by a research event and world premiere recording of music by Justin Connolly, Celebratio “Ter in Lyris Leo” by Lyoneli Tertis dedicated to Justin Connolly (accordion and three violas) and Concerto for harp, accordion, clarinet, and string orchestra by the Academy composition student. In April Alise will perform Ninth Symphony (Shostakovich) with the South Bank Symphony Orchestra. From April through to the end of August, Alise will give 84 performances at Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre production of “Much Ado About Nothing”. In addition she will perform with the RAM Symphony Orchestra at the Aldeburgh Festival in June. Their program will include “Alaraph” (Usuk Chin). |

This concert is the third in a series for musicians to present their art. "After work, before dinner" is the motto. The concert features various works, from classical to folk music. |

| 47 accordionists will perform at the Neumarkt Theatre in Zurich, Switzerland on April 20th and 21st, 2024. “Three Zurich accordion orchestras; HC Stadt Zürich, AO Zürichsee, AO Zürich Altstätten take a step behind the scenes of a theatre at the Theater Neumarkt.” Accordionists will be “situated in the make-up, in the director's office and backstage, some grouped around the centre stage, others are hidden in the farthest corner.” Their program of music entitled “All you can hear” was composed especially for the occasion and the audience is invited to come and go and linger between 4pm and 7pm. The event is supported by the Canton of Zurich's Department of Culture, the Ernst Göhner Foundation, the Elisabeth Weber Foundation, the Landis & Gyr Foundation, the Suisa Foundation, the Dr. Adolf Streuli Foundation, the Migros Culture Percentage, the Swiss Interpreters' Foundation, and accordeon.ch |

| The 31st Diatonic Accordion Festival will take place in Nanterre, Hauts-de-Seine, France from April 26th to 28th, 2024, in partnership with the City of Nanterre and the Hauts-de-Seine Department. The event will feature a variety of diatonic accordion workshops, traditional dance workshops, a Fest-Noz and s Grand Bal Trad. Performances will be given by Duo Erwann Tobie and Heikki Bourgault, Oriaz (picture below), Gwenfol, Duo Bottasso, Tribal Jâze and Ma Petite. |

 Skipinnish will entertain at the Scottish Traditional Boat Festival, held at The Salmon Bothy in Portsoy, Scotland on June 21st, 2024.The group features accordionist Angus MacPhail (picture right). The Scottish Traditional Boat Festival attracts 13,000 visitors every year, to celebrate the north east’s rich maritime heritage. Happy Music Center President, Johnny Young, together with NAA president Norman Seaton and NAA board member Sharon Seaton, presented Meixner with the Happy Music Ambassador trophy and plaque, honoring his dedication and commitment to music, happiness and community. “This recognition award symbolizes appreciation for those with an unwavering commitment and dedication to creating, performing, teaching, and advocating as a catalyst for positive change through the universal language of music,” said Sharon Seaton. Johnny Young said, “Your unyielding dedication and passion for music have created a lasting impact, resonating not only within your community but also reaching far beyond. Your musical contributions have bestowed joy, positivity, and kindness upon the lives of many, serving as a poignant reminder of the transformative influence inherent in melodies and harmonies.” After the presentation, Meixner took the standing room only crowd through a musical journey showcasing the many varied styles and influences that helped shape his musical vision, set against the backdrop of a powerful Texas thunderstorm brewing outside.
