 Der diesjährige "Tag der Harmonika", wurde vom Harmonika Verband Österreichs (HVO) im wunderschönen Kloster in Gleisdorf (Österreich, Steiermark) vom 5.-9. Mai 05 durchgeführt. Der Wettbewerb zog mehr als 350 Teilnehmer an für die Kategorien Akkordeon Solisten, Duos, Ensembles und Orchester, für Mundharmonika und die "Steirische Harmonika" (Steirische Harmonika, eine Art von diatonischen Akkordeon), die in letzter Zeit sehr populär geworden ist.Danijel Piller und Michael Frankenberger wurden ausgewählt, um Österreich in beiden Senior und Junior klassischen Kategorien im 2016 Coupe Mondiale in Rostov-on-Don, Russland, am Anfang September, zu repräsentieren. Danijel wird außerdem mit seinem neu gegründeten Ensemble "Quartett Piller” in der Kategorie "World Music" teilnehmen. Wieder war Stefan Djordjevic sehr überzeugend in seiner Kategorie (12 bis 14 Jahre) und für die Zukunft seine enorme Perspektiven zeigt. Michael Sattler, aus Ober-Österreich, nahm nicht nur den ersten Preis in der höchsten Kategorie des diatonischen Wettbewerbes, sondern auch im Wettbewerb Erich Moser (zur Erinnerung an den ehemaligen diatonischen Weltmeister), eine Kategorie zum zweiten Mal organisiert. Wie üblich gab es viele hervorragende Leistungen von diatonischen Duetten und Volksmusik-Ensembles. Das lokale Akkordeon-Orchester "Ars Harmoniae" (unter Leitung von Rudolf Plank und ehemaliger Sieger der Innsbrucker Festwochen) und bekannte österreichische Gruppe "Dobrek Bistro 'sorgte für die Abendunterhaltung. Zusammen mit der ganzen HVO Crew war Rudolf Plank der perfekte Organisator dieser Veranstaltung, und wurde mit dem "Verdienter Freund des Akkordeon" von HVO-Präsident Werner Weibert ausgezeichnet. Mai Spoleto, findet das 2016 Strumenti & Musica Festival, organisiert von der "Italienischen Akkordeon Kultur" CIA italienische Mitglied, statt.Es gibt verschiedene Akkordeon Kategorien, darunter den Premio Strumenti & Musica (nationale Wettbewerbe für junge italienische Akkordeonisten) die sich für den 69. On 10th May at the Berlin Philharmonic, a concert titled "Philharmonika", where Klingenthal City presented for the first time, the winner of the International Klingenthal Accordion Competition to the federal capital Berlin. Initiators of the concert were Waldemar Fleischhauer from Berlin club Pantonale e.V. and Prof. Jürgen Ganzer, Chairman of the Klingenthal Jury. Opening and closing the concert was accordion virtuoso and composer Vladimir Zubitsky from Ukraine, who has repeatedly contributed as a judge at the Klingenthaler competition. Performers included this years winners and past winners. Sophie and Leo Herzog from Germany, Rafaei Sapukov and Arseniy Strokovsky (both from Russia) and Nicolae Gutu (Moldova) as current winners. Past winners performing included Samuele Talari (Italy), Michael Dolak (Germany) Jean Baptiste Baudin (France). The Chamber Music Hall of the Berlin Philharmonic with 1,200 seats was well attended with around 1,000 tickets sold. | Akkordeon Orchester „AKUD Sonja Marinkovic“- Novi Sad/Serbien Freitag, 6. Mai Das Akkordeon Orchester „AKUD Sonja Marinkovic“ aus Novi Sad, Serbien, wurde 1951 gegründet. Schon damals war die oberste Priorität der damaligen Dirigentin, Prof. Milana Barackov- Malenica, der Durchbruch und die Emanzipation des Akkordeons, als gleichwertiges, klassisches Instrument. Milana Barackov-Malenica dirigierte das Orchester 40 Jahre und gewann die höchste internationale und nationale Anerkennung. Goran Penic spielte jahrelang als Konzertmeister im Orchester. Danach wurde er musikalischer Assistent von Milana Barackov-Malenica. 1999 übernahm er die Leitung des Orchesters. Goran Penic ist 1970 in Novi Sad, Serbien, geboren und aufwachsen. Seine musikalische Laufbahn im Fach Akkordeon begann er mit sieben Jahren an der Musikschule in Novi Sad, unterrichtet von Prof. Dragica Tomasev. Er studierte an der Kunst- und Musikakademie in Novi Sad Musiktheorie, Akkordeon und Dirigieren. Er ist der Preisträger zahlreicher nationaler und internationaler Solo-Wettbewerbe. Das Akkordeon Orchester aus Novi Sad besteht aus 40 aktiven Spielern und Spielerinnen, die in verschiedenen Branchen tätig sind (Hausfrauen, Schüler, Studenten, Pädagogen, Landwirte, Ingenieure, etc.) .Goran Penic sucht stets den außergewöhnlichen Klang und die einzigartige Interpretation mit seinen Spielern. Er hebt sich von dem gewöhnlichen „Akkordeon Chor“ Klang deutlich ab, indem er neue Nuancen, neue Klangfarben einsetzt, mit Hilfe von sieben Elektronien, Percussion und Klavier. Sein 40-köpfiges Orchester ist ausgesprochen gut eingespielt, der Klang ist maximal ausbalanciert, was für die einzigartige Tonqualität spricht. Das Akkordeon Orchester aus Novi Sad ist Preisträger zahlreicher nationaler und internationaler Wettbewerbe: Castelfidardo(2003, 2009), Pula (2005, 2007, 2009, 2013, 2015),Prag (2006), Innsbruck (2013), Smederevo (2003), Ruma (2005, 2007, 2011, 2013), Slavonski Brod (2012, 2013). Das Orchester wurde regelmäßig mit exzellenter Bewertung ausgezeichnet.   On April 26th, Suzanne Grzanna from Milwaukee, Wisconsin won two Indie Music Channel Awards - Best Jazz Artist for ‘Latin Nights’, (a song written by her accordionist father Don Grzanna) and Best Jazz Video Under $5,000 for ‘The Cat's Meow’. The 5th Annual Indie Music Awards were held this year at The Clive Davis Theater at the Grammy Museum in Hollywood, California. Each year hundreds of artists and guests from around the world attend the Indie Music Channel Awards. Don Grzanna, a prolific composer for accordion, has written over 100 accordion compositions which are available online at: Don Grzanna "I am thrilled beyond belief and humbled to have won these awards," said Suzanne Grzanna. In addition, Suzanne Grzanna's ‘The Cat's Meow’ music video is airing in various regions in the USA on the Bongo Boy Rock n' Roll TV Show. | The London Accordion Orchestra (LAO) have just taken part in the 12th World Music Festival, which were held in Innsbruck, Austria from May 5th to 8th. The LAO (conductor Ian Watson) achieved 2nd place in the advanced orchestra category. Full report, results, pictures and some videos are online at: 2016InsbrReport Also successful was Jenny’s Accordionists from Colchester (UK) who played in honor of Jenny Neal, their conductor, who passed away a couple of years ago, and they won the Ensemble category performing Muenchner Rhapsodie by Rudolf Wuerthner. The LAO performed ‘Rhapsody’ by Stuart Hancock and ‘Karneval’ by Matthew Scott. They also played a piece called ‘Flight’, which was written by their conductor, Ian Watson. The orchestra have been invited to give a joint concert with the Nuremburg Accordion Orchestra next spring.  The Accordions Worldwide News for May 10th 2002 included an item about the Italian accordionist Claudio Jacomucci performing the soundtrack of the 1925 silent film ‘Jewish Happiness’ at a cinema in Bologna.Music for a Jewish Silent Film – Italy Contributed by Holda Paoletti-Kampl On April 25th Claudio Jacomucci (accordion) and Marco Dalpane (piano) performed the soundtrack of the silent film ‘Jewish Happiness’ (A. Granowski, 1925) at the Lumiere Cinema in Bologna. The music, composed by the two musicians, is inspired by traditional Jewish music and in particular by the pieces collected by Ukrainian musicologist Beregovski. |

In 1979 they released the single ‘A Bunch of Thyme’ in Ireland, which entered the Irish charts and became their first top-selling No. 1 single, soon afterwards repeating the feat in the UK. Several other hit singles and albums followed, and the duo became internationally popular. They have to date achieved album and video sales in excess of 22 million worldwide. Mick Foster was taught to play the accordion by a Sister Agnes Murray, a nun of the Mercy Order in Ballymahon, County Longford, and by Frankie Gavigan. Main influences on his playing included Jimmy Shand and Will Starr. In 1968 and 1970 Mick Foster won the All Ireland Piano Accordion Championship at the Fleadh Cheoil. He has stated that his accordion would be the last thing in life he would be prepared to give up. |

 On Sunday May 29th, 9.30pm, Spanish accordionist Ferran Martinez, clarinet player Nigel Haywood, and singer Meritxell Rodes perform together in concert as the ‘Russian Trio’ at the Rte Souvenir, c/Valencia 232, Barcelona. Their program includes Russian works by Aleksei Khovstenko, Henri Volokhonsky, Vladimir Vyssotsky, and popular songs and gipsy songs. Ferran Martinez, born in 1971, is a graduate of the Barcelona Conservatory. He plays solo classical concerts and is a member of the Cavall Bernat group, performing Catalan popular music.  The first New York International Jazz Accordion Festival, organised by Victor Prieto, takes place on September 17th and 18th at the Terraza 7 Club, NY.
