| The 2022 Tag der Harmonica will be held at the New Middle School City Centre in Perg, Upper Austria from June 16th to 19th 2022 organised by the HVÖ Harmonikaverband Osterreichs (Harmonica Association of Austria). This 29th Austrian competition is for accordion soloists, duos, ensembles and orchestras playing a variety of concert music, light music, chamber music and world music. HVÖ President, Werner Weibert is pleased to announce two new highlights for the Day of the Harmonica 2022 as follows: 1. The largest accordion orchestra founded by the HVÖ in 2020 will perform for the first time as part of this harmonica day. The Austrian Orchestra is an initiative of HVÖ board members Christian Höller and Johannes Münzner, who have called on all accordionists in Austria to participate. 2. The event will also include the premiere of the Cyril Demian Prize, which will be awarded in the new International Guest Classes. Video starts at 1:35 Program in Russian and English at: 2022All-RussiaDayThe All-Russian Day of Bayan, Accordion and Harmonica is celebrated each year (on the third Saturday in March) at the Gnesins RAM Concert Hall in Moscow. The event is also Russia's contribution to World Accordion Day (May 6th) because that date clashes with a Russian National Holiday. So for that reason, the All-Russian Day of Bayan, Accordion and Harmonica is held in March annually. The Department of Bayan and Accordion of the Gnesins RAM established the event with project manager being Friedrich Lips. The initiative began in 2010 and demonstrated enthusiasm in all regions of Russia, both from amateurs and professional musicians, and resulted in a national celebration. 2022AllRussiaPoster.pdf |

| The 2022 2nd International Competition “Heinrich Band” and the VIII International Bandoneon Masterclass will be held online and live in person from August 24th to 27th, 2022 in Iglesias, Italy. The event is organised by the Anton Stadler Cultural Association and the Accademia Italiana del Bandoneón, with the contribution of the RAS Autonomous Region of Sardinia - Department of Education, Cultural Heritage, Information, Entertainment and Sport, the Municipality of Iglesias - Department of Culture, Sport and Entertainment, the Foundation of Sardinia, the MIC Ministry of Culture and in collaboration with the AR'TANGO-Bandoneon Project Association of Avignon. Applications have opened for the preliminary round of the “Heinrich Band” competition for instrumental performance on bandoneon, with entrants now able to send in their videos. Applications close on June 24th, 2022. The jury consists of Per Arne Glorvigen (Norway), Piero di Egidio (Italy), Yvonne Hahn (Germany), Santiago Cimadevilla (Argentina) and Fabio Furia (Italy). Three competition finalists will be chosen to progress to the final live public concert in Iglesias on August 24th, 2022 on the occasion of the VIII edition of the International Bandoneon Masterclass. All the jury members will be present and the public will be able to vote and assign a special prize as well.   Thomas Hennig, Chairman of the Association for the Promotion of the International Accordion Competitions in Klingenthal e.V. has announced that the 59th International Accordion Competition Klingenthal 2022 has now been cancelled. The competition was due to be held online in May 2022. Organisers are now looking towards the 60th Competition in Klingenthal next year. |

| A virtual reunion over Zoom to commemorate the 10th anniversary of Frank Marocco’s passing was held on March 5. Forty-five Frank Marocco Accordion Event (FMAE) alumni and friends from the US, Canada and Italy participated in nearly 3½ hours of reminiscing and viewing videos together. A highlight of the reunion was the participation of Frank’s three daughters, Cynthia, Venetia and Lisa. Their heartwarming reactions can be summed up in a quote from an email I received from Cynthia following the reunion: “Thank you Dan so much for hosting this event . . . What a lovely community of accordion players were present. It meant so much to my sisters and myself." .....   Video: Concert series of the "Ensemble Via Nova" in the Kunsthalle Erfurt, Germany. Neza Torka and the Ensemble Via Nova gave a concert tour of Switzerland from March 31st to April 3rd, 2022. Beginning at the Kellertheater Brig on March 31st, the group’s program included 75th birthday celebrations for Max E. Keller (Swiss composer, jazz pianist and improvising musician) with works by Keller, Hoyer, Zapf, Frischknecht and Hildebrandt. Further concerts were given as follows: April 1st, at the Alter Stadthaussaal Winterthur with works by Keller, Hoyer, Zapf, Jean-Luc Darbellay and Hildebrandt. April 2nd at L ´ art pour l`Aar, French church Le Cap, Bern with works by Keller, Iranyi, Hoyer, Zapf, Hofer, Darbellay, Gut, Frischknecht, Wecks and Bovey. | The "Pipes and Reeds" concert featuring the South Hampshire Accordion Quintet was held on April 10th at the Thorngate Halls Ballroom in Gosport, England. Performers included Robert Stacey on the 1934 Compton theatre organ, playing popular classics and show tunes, followed by the accordion quintet playing the Glenn Miller story, Liberty Bell March, and Black and White Rag. |

| The 2022 Easter Music Seminar will be held from April 19th to 22nd, 2022 at the Federal Academy of Trossingen in Germany organised by the Akkordeonjugend Baden-Württemberg in the Deutschen Harmonika-Verband e. V. Young musicians aged from 10 to 26, who play accordion, harmonica, melodica, keyboard, piano or drums, will enjoy a program including orchestra playing, conducting, lectures and music production. Lecturers include Alexander Cargnelli (music educator), Jürgen Farkas (music educator), Sarah Hofheinz (representative of youth education) and Thomas Maier (musical instructor for percussion instruments). |

 Dr. Helmi Harrington welcomes all, “On behalf of the Board of Directors to A World of Accordions Museum." A World of Accordions World Accordion Day (WAD) and Palmer Festivals will take place from May 6-8, 2022 in Superior, Wisconsin at The Harrington ARTS Center, home of the A World Of Accordions Museum (AWAM). On Friday May 6, 2022 World Accordion Day will be celebrated by a variety of lectures, demonstrations, and concerts. The theme for this day will be Cyril Demian Accordion Patent Celebration. Saturday May 7, 2022 will be the annual Palmer Festival with more exciting lectures and fun accordion concerts and demonstrations. The third day, Sunday May 8, 2022 will include several accordion based polka morning services, and tours of the A World of Accordions Museum in the afternoon.
