Concurso de acordeón VAMÖ 2020 - Austriaby Holda Paoletti-Kampl |
La 38.ª competencia de acordeón VAMÖ 2020 para solistas de países de la UE y extranjeros que viven en Austria tendrá lugar en el Waldmüllerzentrum en Viena, Austria, el 15 de marzo de 2020. El evento está organizado por Verband Der Amateurmusiker und Vereine Österreichs (Asociación de Músicos Aficionados de Austria), el Presidente Honorario Prof. Hermi Kaleta (foto a la derecha). Los programas de competición deben consistir en diferentes estilos con al menos una composición original y deben realizarse de memoria. El evento concluirá con un concierto festivo final con premios otorgados y actuaciones de concursantes exitosos. La admisión es gratuita. Video: Marco Lo Russo Succesful Tour – South Koreaby Rob Howard |
Video: Accordionist Marco Lo Russo held a successful tour to Seoul, South Korea last month. His concerts featured pieces from his “Made in Italy” project, soundtracks of Italian cinema films arranged by Marco as well as his own compositions. Accompanied by the Youth Orchestra Seoul viola ensemble, Marco included "Ave Maria" dedicated to Pope Francis in his program at each of the concerts. His tour schedule included performances at the Iksan Art Centre, Mapo Art Centre, and Ceramic Palace Hall, all in Seoul. |

“Black Pencil”, which includes accordionist Marko Kassl will perform with the Nationaal Vrouwen Jeugdkoor "Totaliter Aliter" (Netherlands Female Youth Choir conducted by Gregory Charette) at Noorderkerk in Amsterdam on October 26th at 2pm. Jazz accordionist Shane Brogan will be performing at the Langtoun Jazz Festival in aid of the Kirkcaldy Foodbank on Saturday October 27th 2019 at MQ Coffee in High Street, Kirkcaldy from 11am. This concert is the first of 6 gigs in a day of jazz to benefit the Foodbank as band fees have been covered by funding from Fife Council, Fife Charities Trust and fundraising concerts. Duo Vilda Performs at Arctic Celtic Gathering – Finlandby Christine Johnstone |
Duo Vilda will take part in the Arctic Celtic Gathering held at the Culture House Korundi in Rovaniemi, Finland from October 31st to November 3rd. Duo “Vilda” includes accordionist Viivi Saarenkylä and indigenous Samí singer Hildá Länsman (Finland). They will perform their first concert on November 2nd at 11am, which will include Storytelling and a Sámi Culture presentation. At 12.30pm they will lead a Joik workshop at the same venue. Accordionist Geoff Berner Celebrates New Album Release at Festivals in Vancouver - Canadaby Christine Johnstone |
Accordionist & vocalist Geoff Berner will perform a concert with TJ Dawe & Friends to celebrate the release of his latest klezmer album “Grand Hotel Cosmopolis”, on COAX Records and COAX Europa. The performance will be held in Wise Hall & Lounge in Vancouver, British Columbia on November 1st at 8pm in conjunction with the Chutzpah! Festival. The performance is part of a new satirical stage musical by Geoff Berner and TJ Dawe entitled “The Trombonik Returns to New Chelm” which takes inspiration from the traditional comic tales of Jewish folklore about Chelm (a village famous for people whose “wisdom” is so complex as to often sound oddly more like the complete opposite of wisdom). This Klezmer musical is set in Depression-era Saskatchewan and tells the story of a wandering con artist posing as a rabbi who becomes entangled in the Prohibition whiskey trade. On November 2nd and 3rd the show will be repeated at the Woodstove Festival in Cumberland, British Columbia. This is a multi-venue arts and music festival presented by Cumberland Culture and Arts Society featuring over 100 artists performing at 10 indoor venues in downtown Cumberland and will include live music, dance, theatre, spoken word, visual art, kids programming and a vendor fair. Accordionist Karen Tweed will tour the UK from November 1st to 13th with pianist Timo Alakotila. The duo met in Denmark in 1998 and released their seminal CD “May Monday” in 2001 which gained international acclaim and was voted CD of the year by BBC Late Junction's presenter Fiona Talkington. Two albums followed – “Midnight May Monday” and now “Midsummer May Monday” and this tour celebrates 21 years of their special music and great friendship. Their collaboration combines Karen's wacky, mercurial and vivacious wizardry with Timo's quiet genius. Both teach music courses at Sibelius Academy in Finland, Newcastle University and The World Academy of Music and Dance at Limerick University. Accordionist Ghenadie Rotari (picture left) will perform in concert with an instrumental group dedicated to the performance and promotion of contemporary music “Ensemble MusikFabrik” (picture below) at the "Festival Now! Transit" event held at the Philharmonie Essen (pictured above) on October 31st from 7.30pm. Their program will include the premier of a work entitled "Nether" (by Rebecca Saunders) for soprano and ensemble (19 instruments) with texts from the last chapter of "Ulysses" by James Joyce, the monologue of Molly Bloom. The work is also a core part of the one-hour long work for soprano and spatialized ensemble called "Yes", which was premiered in September 2017 at the Berliner Philharmonie by Ensemble Musikfabrik. Their program will also include "Schweres Tragend" (by Stefan Winkler) which is a "pocket" opera for 2 singers, a narrator, five instruments and electronics. This concert program will be repeated on November 3rd at the WDR Cologne (West-German Radio Station in Cologne) as part of the "Musikfabrik in WDR" concert series.
