 Stefano Mengascini, Director of Mengascini Accordions Italy, manufacturers, has passed away at only 62 years of age.Born 15 December 1961 in Castelfidardo, died 29 December 2023 in Ancona. Information of the family and Stefano Mengascini is in the "Know the People" Interview published in 2017 at: 2017MN-Interview Translation of newspaper article by il Resto del Carlino Ancona: A life making accordions. Farewell to Mengascini, he was 62 years old The Mengascini family gave a lifetime to the development of handicrafts and the accordion in Castelfidardo. On December 29th 2023, 62-year-old Stefano Mengascini, owner of the company, passed away. Grieved by his wife and daughters Lucia and Chiara. Castelfidardo owes a lot to his family, one of those who gave a lifetime to the development of craftsmanship and the production of the accordion, the beating heart of the town. In fact, Mengascini is a company founded in 1978 that bears the surname of its founder, Nello, and Stefano was now one of the company owners. A great professional, always with a smile, husband and family man whose passing leaves many in despair. He was always proud of his work and family. His wife Elisabetta and daughters Lucia and Chiara were deeply saddened. The funeral was set for the 30 December 2023 at 5 pm in the Collegiate Church in the city centre. Accordions Worldwide send their sincere condolences to the Mengascini family for their very sad loss. |

  Der neue Warner Brothers-Film "Wonka 2023" ist am 15. Dezember in vielen Ländern angelaufen. In einer Welt der reinen Fantasie hören Sie das Akkordeon gleich zu Beginn des Films und während des gesamten Films. Der dargestellte Akkordeonist ist Ian Watson (Bild rechts), Musikdirektor des London Accordion Orchestra.Ian Watson schrieb: "Ich habe so gerne an diesem Film gearbeitet, über 2 Jahre lang, mit Unterbrechungen, und das Endprodukt ist großartig. Die Weltpremiere letzte Woche in der Royal Festival Hall London hat so viel Spaß gemacht. Mein guter Freund (und Chef) Neil Hannon hat die perfekten Songs für den Film geschrieben, die durch die umwerfende Musik eines anderen guten Freundes, Joby Talbot, ergänzt werden. Beide sind absolute Genies und ich werde ihnen für immer dankbar sein, dass sie mich gebeten haben, an diesem wunderbaren Film mitzuwirken." Wonka ist ein musikalischer Fantasy-Film aus dem Jahr 2023 unter der Regie von Paul King, der zusammen mit Simon Farnaby das Drehbuch nach einer Geschichte von King geschrieben hat. Er erzählt die Entstehungsgeschichte von Willy Wonka, einer Figur aus dem Roman Charlie und die Schokoladenfabrik von Roald Dahl aus dem Jahr 1964, und schildert seine Anfänge als Chocolatier. Ian Watson ist diesen Monat nicht nur auf der Kinoleinwand zu sehen - vom 16. Dezember bis zum 7. Januar können Sie ihn auch auf der Bühne des Shakespeare Globe Theatre in London in Hänsel und Gretel erleben.  Das ausverkaufte Konzert und die Milonga des Aotango Quintets zur Feier des Internationalen Tango-Tages fanden am 11. Dezember 2023 statt. Der Abend bestand aus zwei Teilen, beginnend mit einem Konzertprogramm mit Tango und Weltmusik und endend mit einer Milonga, bei der die Tänzer in der atemberaubenden Kulisse des Auckland War Memorial Museum eine Tanda (eine Reihe von Tangos) oder einen Walzer tanzen konnten.Bei Aotango treten der Konzertmeister und Geiger des Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra (APO), Andrew Beer, der Pianist des NZTrio, Somi Kim, der Hauptbassist des APO, Gordon Hill, der renommierte Jazzgitarrist Sam Swindells und der Akkordeonweltmeister Grayson Masefield auf.  The latest upgraded and expanded article to be published this month in easy-to-read web page format unveils the first composer from the "Baby Boomer" generation (commonly defined as a member of the generation born between the end of World War II and the mid-1960s) to be commissioned by Elsie Bennett and the AAA to write a contemporary work for accordion. He is Joel Brickman, born squarely on that sociologically proclaimed initial year after World War II of 1946. His first contact with Bennett occurred completely by chance 26 years later, soon after Brickman had earned a master’s degree in Composition from the Manhattan School of Music and makes a wonderfully interesting and fun story to read in its own right. | “Black Pencil” (picture below) have announced their new collaboration with the Suburbia Theatre Group and will tour the Netherlands from March 1st to April 14th, 2024, performing “Lady+Lord MacBeth” (picture above). Black Pencil have composed the music for the production and will perform live. Lady+Lord MacBeth, (directed by Olivier Diepenhorst and written by Tom Lanoye), is a compelling adaptation of Shakespeare's Macbeth, a beautiful performance about bottomless love and blind ambitions, and about the pain - the loss of what should never be. |

| “Kirkophany” will entertain at a “Knees Up Cecil Sharp Ceilidh”, held at the Kennedy Hall, Cecil Sharp House in London, England on January 19th, 2024. The group features John Kirkpatrick (calling the dances, button accordion & anglo concertina), and his four sons: Jobie (bass guitar), Benji (guitars, banjo, mandolin, bouzouki), George (melodeons, percussion) and Fergus (drums). The “Knees Up Cecil Sharp Ceilidhs” provide interesting and energetic evenings of folk dancing. | Seven piece Celtic punk band “Flogging Molly” will begin their “Road to Rebellion” 2024 tour on February16th in Mashantucket, CT. A further 22 concerts will be held during the tour, with the final two concerts at the Shamrock Rebellion Festival in Silverado, California on March 16th and the Las Vegas, Nevada Shamrock Rebellion Festival on March 17th.
