 Das Internationale Akkordeonfestival 2024 wird vom 24. Februar bis 17. März 2024 in Wien stattfinden und sein 25-jähriges Bestehen feiern.Nach dem Rücktritt des Gründers Friedl Preisl sind die ehemalige Co-Direktorin Franziska Hatz und die Kulturmanagerin Lisa Reimitz (Bild links) für die diesjährige Veranstaltung verantwortlich, die Konzerte an zahlreichen Orten in Wien bieten wird. Eröffnet wird das 25. Internationale Akkordeonfestival vom Ensemble Tango 5 (zu dem auch der Akkordeonist Milos Todorovski gehört - Foto oben von Vanja Pandurevic), den Abschluss bildet ein Konzert von Caamano & Ameixeras und Maxjoseph. Im Rahmenprogramm des Festivals werden außerdem drei Workshops für Akkordeon und Handharmonika angeboten.  Mirco Patarini, Präsident der Confédération Internationale des Accordéonistes (CIA), Mitglied des Internationalen Musikrates (IMC), offizieller NGO-Partner der UNESCO, und Präsident von Scandalli Accordions, wird am 29. Januar 2024 in Beylikdüzü, Istanbul, Türkei, ein Konzert geben.Sein 40-minütiges Programm wird aus sechs Stücken bestehen. Mirco Patarini wird mit dem Jugendsinfonieorchester Beylikdüzü (BGSO) auftreten, das aus 60 jungen Musikern besteht, die hauptsächlich Streicher und Schlagzeuger sind. Das Konzert soll junge Menschen ermutigen Musik zu lernen. |

 Okud Istra hat angekündigt, dass die mit Spannung erwartete Akkordeon-Sommerakademie zum 28. Mal in Folge nach Pula, Kroatien, zurückkehren wird. Diese renommierte Veranstaltung, die vom 8. bis 13. Juli 2024 stattfindet, bringt Akkordeon-Enthusiasten aus der ganzen Welt für eine Woche intensiven Lernens und musikalischer Entdeckungen zusammen.Akkordeonisten aller Niveaus haben hier die einmalige Gelegenheit, ihre Fähigkeiten zu verbessern und ihren musikalischen Horizont zu erweitern. Unter der Leitung von Mie Miki (Professorin für Akkordeon und Vizepräsidentin an der Folkwang Universität der Künste Essen in Deutschland sowie Ehrenprofessorin an der Xinjian Arts College in China), Mateja Zenzerovic (Akkordeon), Veli Kujala (Akkordeon) und Miran Vaupotic (Dirigieren/Orchester) werden die Teilnehmer in intensiven Workshops, Einzelcoachings und Ensembleauftritten verschiedene Musikgenres von der Klassik bis zur Moderne erkunden. | Die National Accordion Convention (NAA) 2024, die im Hilton Garden Inn in Lewisville, Texas, USA, stattfindet, feiert vom 20. bis 24. März 2024 die "Rückkehr der Live-Musik". Zu den neuen Konzepten für 2024 gehört das neue Programm "Pathways to Success" - offen für alle Akkordeonisten! Das Jahr 2024 bietet eine neue Bewegung von "Live-Musik"-Möglichkeiten. Deshalb hat der Planungsausschuss mehrere "Wege zum erfolgreichen Musiker" entwickelt. | Die Abteilung für Volksinstrumente wird vom 18. bis 24. Februar 2024 im Rahmen der IX. Internationalen Musikakademie des Internationalen Winterkunstfestivals in Sotschi, Krasnodar, Russland, Bildungsprojekte durchführen. Der Unterricht an der Abteilung für Volksinstrumente wird von großen Meistern und Professoren führender russischer Musikhochschulen erteilt. Die Veranstaltung richtet sich an junge Künstler auf russischen Volksinstrumenten aus der Russischen Föderation, Europa und anderen Ländern, die zum Zeitpunkt der Teilnahme zwischen 14 und 25 Jahre alt sind und sich auf Knopfakkordeon, Akkordeon, Domra (drei- und viersaitig), Mandoline und Balalaika spezialisiert haben. Die Teilnahme an den Veranstaltungen der Akademie (Konzerte, offener Unterricht) ist für diejenigen, die das Auswahlverfahren bestanden haben, obligatorisch.  Der US-amerikanische Akkordeonist Cory Pesaturo hatte die Ehre, Gastkünstler in Riad, Saudi-Arabien, vor rund 7.000 Zuschauern im Abu Bakir Salim Theater zu sein, bei einem Konzert, das vor Dutzenden Millionen Menschen in der gesamten arabischen Welt im Fernsehen übertragen wurde. Bei dem Konzert wurde die Musik des ägyptischen Komponisten Riad Al Sunbati (1906-1981) unter der Leitung von Hany Farahat aufgeführt.Cory sagte: "Die Ägypter, die die Veranstaltung ins Leben gerufen haben, die Saudis, die sie organisiert haben, die ukrainische Brass-Sektion und die anderen Musiker waren alle einfach erstklassig." Pesaturo war begeistert von dem saudi-arabischen Dirigenten Hany Farahat, "der vielleicht mein Lieblingsmensch ist, mit dem ich je in der Musikwelt gearbeitet habe". |

| Das Akkordeonquintett „Quinteto Entre Fuelles“ startet seine erste Tournee 2024 in Chile Auf einer bahnbrechenden musikalischen Reise hat „Quinteto Entre Fuelles“ seine erste Tournee im Jahr 2024 mit einer Reihe fesselnder Auftritte in Chile gestartet, mit dem Ziel, zeitgenössische chilenische Musik einem weltweiten Publikum vorzustellen und bekannt zu machen. Unter der künstlerischen Leitung von Joaquín Muñoz Donoso geht das Quinteto Entre Fuelles in Chile neue Wege, indem es den ganzen Januar über eine vielfältige Konzertreihe präsentiert und das klassische Genre durch die Vielseitigkeit des Konverterakkordeons verstärkt. Ihr Repertoire verspricht eine reichhaltige Mischung ikonischer Kompositionen, darunter neu interpretierte Werke von Bach, Mozart, Bartók und Piazzolla, und präsentiert Originalkompositionen für Soloakkordeon von angesehenen Komponisten wie d'Aguiar, Muñoz-Jara, Roffi und Hermosa. Die Tour führt durch verschiedene Städte und fasziniert das Publikum mit dem einzigartigen Charme des Akkordeons und den innovativen Arrangements von Muñoz Donoso. Die Konzerte werden großzügig vom Portillo Festival, der Universidad de Chile und der Entre Fuelles Foundation gesponsert und der Öffentlichkeit kostenlos angeboten. Ziel ist es, eine Brücke zwischen den Kulturen zu schlagen und eine tiefe Wertschätzung für das Potenzial des Akkordeons als vielseitiges und ausdrucksstarkes Instrument zu fördern. Das Quintett wird im Mai 2024 auf eine internationale Tournee in die Schweiz, Serbien und Italien gehen und dabei auch traditionelle chilenische Musik aus dem Norden bis zum Süden des Landes präsentieren.  Stefano Mengascini, Direktor des Herstellers Mengascini Accordions Italy, ist verstorben.Geboren am 15. Dezember 1961 in Castelfidardo, gestorben am 29. Dezember 2023 in Ancona. Informationen zur Familie und zu Stefano Mengascini finden Sie im "Know the People"-Interview, das 2017 veröffentlicht wurde unter: 2017MN-Interview Übersetzung des Zeitungsartikels von il Resto del Carlino Ancona: Ein Leben als Akkordeonbauer. Abschied von Mengascini, er wurde 62 Jahre alt Die Familie Mengascini hat sich ein Leben lang für die Entwicklung des Kunsthandwerks und des Akkordeons in Castelfidardo eingesetzt. Am 29. Dezember 2023 verstarb der 62-jährige Firmeninhaber Stefano Mengascini. Er wird von seiner Frau und seinen Töchtern Lucia und Chiara betrauert. Castelfidardo hat seiner Familie viel zu verdanken, die sich ein Leben lang für die Entwicklung des Handwerks und die Herstellung des Akkordeons, des Herzstücks der Stadt, eingesetzt hat. Mengascini ist ein 1978 gegründetes Unternehmen, das den Nachnamen seines Gründers Nello trägt, und Stefano ist nun einer der Firmeninhaber. Ein großartiger Fachmann, der immer ein Lächeln auf den Lippen hatte, ein Ehemann und Familienvater, dessen Tod viele verzweifelt zurücklässt. Er war immer stolz auf seine Arbeit und seine Familie. Seine Frau Elisabetta und seine Töchter Lucia und Chiara sind tief betroffen. Seine Beerdigung fand am 30. Dezember 2023 in der Stiftskirche im Stadtzentrum statt. Accordions Worldwide spricht der Familie Mengascini ihr aufrichtiges Beileid zu ihrem schweren Verlust aus. |

| The Accordion Association Con Zelo will hold their “Masterplay” Concert at the Reformed Church in Hoogwoud, North Holland, Netherlands on March 2nd, 2024, organised by the Quintet Vijfkwarts. Accordionists from all over the Netherlands will work on five pieces of music in three sessions under the direction of conductor Christa Groeneveld. In the third session, soloist Vincent van Amsterdam will give a short masterclass on tone formation. This rehearsal will also be dominated by Piazzolla's “Meditango” in which Vincent will perform the solo part. At the final concert, Vincent van Amsterdam will also perform as a soloist, after which the concert will conclude with the joint work. |

 Italian accordionist, Denis Novato received the "Tony Petkovsek Award" at the recent National Cleveland-Style Polka Hall of Fame Awards show, held in Cleveland, Ohio, USA.The award was presented for his musical career and the international dissemination of music. Novato is the first non-American person to receive this prestigious award. Before him it was awarded to several musicians, journalists and the governor of Ohio Georg Volnivich. For the accordionist from Trieste, this award, the "Tony Petkovsek Award", confirms his fame in the USA and after having already entered the hall of fame of world accordionists in New York, his name has now also entered the Polka Hall of fame in Cleveland. In 2021 Novato was nominated Knight of the Italian Republic and the cast of his hand was exhibited in the museum of the great accordionists in Recoaro Terme. Novato will entertain this month at the 2024 ski world cup events in Val Badia, Cortina d'Ampezzo and Kitzbühel, held in late January. |

| Duo Two Accordions, father and daughter accordion duo of Maria & Sergei Teleshev, will tour the USA from January 19th through to February 22nd, 2024, giving live concerts in Oregon, Texas, California and Montana. The tour will include a “Winter Accordion Wonderland” concert at the Kawai Piano Gallery in Plano, Texas on January 27th. This concert will also feature Elena Fainshtein and the 11 piece Fainshtein Accordion Ensemble (comprised of students enrolled in the Elena Fainshtein accordion school), Musical Expressions, as well as guest performer Martina Li. Their program will include music from around the western world such as tango, classical, gypsy, eastern European, western European and American pieces. The tour will also include a live taping event at the Texas Music Café, Cultivate 7twelve: Art.Culture.Events in Waco, Texas on January 29th. |

  Die NZAA South Pacific Accordion Championships & Festival 2024 werden im hervorragenden Raye Freedman Arts Centre (Bild unten), Silver Rd, Epsom, Auckland, stattfinden. Die hervorragende Akustik und Beleuchtung präsentieren jeden Künstler von seiner besten Seite.NZAA-Präsidentin Sonja Palinich heißt alle zu der Veranstaltung willkommen, die Wettbewerbern und Festivalkünstlern weltweit offen steht und eine Vielzahl von Altersgruppenklassen für Solisten, Duos, Trios, Ensembles und Orchester bietet. Die Regeln für die internationalen Solo-Kategorien orientieren sich eng an den Regeln des Coupe Mondiale. Für die internationale Konzertmusikkategorie Südpazifik gelten genau die gleichen Regeln wie für das Coupe Für die Kategorien „Coupe Mondiale Masters“ und „Südpazifik“ gelten genau die gleichen Regeln wie für die Kategorie „Coupe Mondiale Virtuoso Entertainment“. Ebenso (unter 18 Jahre) Junior-Unterhaltungskategorie Südpazifik.  The latest upgraded and expanded article to be published this month in easy-to-read web page format unveils the first composer from the "Baby Boomer" generation (commonly defined as a member of the generation born between the end of World War II and the mid-1960s) to be commissioned by Elsie Bennett and the AAA to write a contemporary work for accordion. He is Joel Brickman, born squarely on that sociologically proclaimed initial year after World War II of 1946. His first contact with Bennett occurred completely by chance 26 years later, soon after Brickman had earned a master’s degree in Composition from the Manhattan School of Music and makes a wonderfully interesting and fun story to read in its own right. The outcome of this fortuitous engagement was a highly idiomatic and challenging atonal accordion solo, Prelude and Caprice. Published in 1973 by Pietro Deiro Publications, it represents the first of a string of AAA-commissioned Boomer and later generation composers that followed over the next fifty years, including Roger Davidson, José Halac, George Katehis, Dave Soldier, Timothy Thompson, and accordionist/composers John Franceschina, Karen Fremar, Will Holshouser, Guy Klucevsek, Joseph Natoli, William Schimmel, and myself, all conservatory - or university-trained professional composers.
