  La 77e Coupe Mondiale de la Confédération Internationale des Accordéonistes (CIA) se tiendra du 6 au 10 septembre 2024 à Castelfidardo, en Italie. Premier Symposium nordique des professeurs d'accordéon 2024 - Danemarkby Grayson Masefield |

 Organisé par le professeur Geir Draugsvoll (photo de gauche), l'Académie royale danoise de musique a accueilli le premier symposium révolutionnaire des professeurs d'accordéon nordiques du 29 février au 2 mars 2024, à Copenhague, au Danemark.L'événement visait à inspirer les éducateurs et les étudiants tout en offrant une plateforme d'échange entre les jeunes accordéonistes. Divers 'intervenants ont parlé de pédagogie à l’accordéon, méthodes innovante et état de l'énseignement à travers le monde. Trois concerts ont eu lieu avec des premières mondiales et des performances d'ensembles et de solistes, dont des étudiants de l'Académie royale danoise de musique.  Le XVIe Dani Harmonike et le 1er Euro Coupe Accordéon se tiendront à Bijeljina et Ugljevik, en Bosnie-Herzégovine, du 18 au 22 avril 2024.Le concours Accordéon Euro Coupe aura lieu pour la première fois dans le cadre du XVIe festival Dani Harmonike et comprendra les catégories solistes, classique senior et virtuose senior.   L'Orkney Folk Festival se tiendra dans les Orcades, en Écosse, du 23 au 26 mai 2024. Le festival a remporté le prix « Événement de l'année » 2023 aux MG Alba Scots Trad Music Awards l'année dernière.Parmi les artistes figurent « The Chair » (photo ci-dessus à gauche), qui comprend l'accordéoniste Bob Gibbon, qui fêtera son 20ème anniversaire au festival cette année. Le groupe joue « un mélange turbocompressé de folk, de blues, de rock, de dub, de klezmer et plus encore ». Parmi les autres artistes figurent Karen Tweed, Genticorum (photo ci-dessus à droite - l'accordéoniste Nicholas Williams), The Glencraig Scottish Dance Band (photo ci-dessous - Nicol McLaren à l'accordéon), Mairtín O'Connor, Orkney Accordion and Fiddle Club, Orkney Strathspey and Reel Society, Orkney. | Les accordéonistes des écoles de musique, des écoles secondaires et des établissements d'enseignement supérieur sont invités à participer au IVe Concours International d'Accordéonistes « Concorde des Sons 2024 », qui se tiendra en personne et virtuellement les 24 et 25 avril 2024. L'événement aura lieu lieu à l'école de musique et d'art Marupe à Jaunmarupe, Marupes novads, Lettonie. Le concours est organisé par l'école de musique et d'art Marupe en coopération avec la classe d'accordéon de l'Académie lettone de musique Jazeps Vitols, la Confédération Mondiale de l'Accordéon (CMA), l'Association internationale des écoles de musique « Con Anima » et la société « MMMS AB ». ».  Que faites vous la Journée de l’accordéon (World Accordion Day - WAD) pour promovoir l’accordéon dans votre pays ?La journée de l’accordéon est le 6 mai, qui est le jour où l’accordéon a été inventé en 1829. La journée de l’accordéon a été créé en 2009 par le CIA et a rencontré beaucoup de succès depuis, donnant une image positive de l’accordéon. Un des maillons essentiels de cet évènement est le site web de la Journée de l’accordéon. Chaque association, groupe, orchestre, joueur ou enseignant sont priés de soutenir activement cet évènement en proposant ce jour-là, dans leur pays, des activités nationales et locales autour de l’accordéon. Cela peut s’organiser aussi le week end d’avant ou après si c’était plus commode. Chacun peut inscrire son activité pour la journée de l’accordéon sur le site web et envoyer a posteriori un compte rendu qui sera publié sur le site. Aucun évènement n’est trop gros ou ni trop petit. Tous les évènements liés à l’accordéon pour célébrer la journée de l’accordéon seront les bienvenus. C’est une campagne organisée par le Confédération Internationale des Accordéonistes (CIA) pour l’accordéon où tout féru d’accordéon peut participer, le but étant de renforcer les liens de la communauté autour de l’accordéon et de promouvoir l’instrument. |

  The opening concert of the 2024 "Accordéons-nous.org" 6th International Festival, held in Mons, Belgium will feature accordionist Klaudiusz Baran (Poland) on April 18th.On April 19th, at 12.15pm, Steve Normandin will give a lecture on his new book tracing the life of Edith Piaf. He will mainly cover the topic "Piaf and its Accordionists". The will be a concert by Klaudiusz Baran. Tonino Alessandrini, accordion builder and repairer, attends the event.  The Centrum Blues Camp will be held at the Centrum Campus in Port Townsend, Washington, USA from July 29th to August 4th, 2024.Camp instructor and accordionist, Bruce Sunpie Barnes is a “veteran New Orleans musician, former Park Ranger with the National Park Service for 30 years, actor, photographer, book author, former high school biology teacher, former college football All-American, and former NFL player (Kansas City Chiefs).” “Sunpie Barnes’ many careers have taken him far and wide. He has traveled to over 50 countries playing his own style of what he calls Afro-Louisiana music incorporating Blues, Zydeco, Gospel, Caribbean and African influenced rhythms and melodies.” “Now in its 30th year, the Port Townsend Acoustic Blues Festival continues to offer a side of the blues that popular culture does not always recognize – its roots! Immerse yourself in a creative community of artists from across the globe who share a passion for early blues traditions and moving the genre forward. | The deadline for entry applications for participation in the VII All-Russian open competition for accordionists "Yugoria - 2024" has been extended. The competition will be held at the Surgut Music College in Surgut, Russia from April 4th to 8th, 2024. This musical festival will be dedicated to two significant events: the 150th anniversary of the birth of well known composer and teacher E.F. Gnessina, as well as the 430th anniversary of the founding of the city of Surgut. The jury features musicologist and composer, People's Artist of the Russian Federation, professor of the Gnessin Russian Academy of Music, Viatcheslav Semionov. A number of their concerts have been sold out. Skerryvore are a multi-award winning Scottish band creating a ‘trad-rock’ fusion that has seen them perform in over 25 countries worldwide. | Dmitry Khodonovich will perform a solo concert at the IX International Competition "Pearl of the Kuban", which will take place at the Small Concert Hall, located at 240 room 2 of the educational building of the Krasnodar State Institute of Culture in Krasnodar, Russia on March 11th, 2024 at 4pm. Dmitry Khodanovich is a laureate of the international Grand Prix competition in France and a student of composer and Honored Artist of Russia, Vladimir Bonakov. His work is permeated with bright and unique sounds that have won recognition both in Russia and abroad. Dmitry Khodanovich's concerts are a unique opportunity to plunge into the world of button accordion and classical music. |

St Patricks Day Parade

| Accordion entertainer, Tracey Collins will take part in the St Patricks Day Parade with Marian Burns (violin), which will take place on Queen Street, Auckland, New Zealand on March 17th, 2024, from midday, organised by the Hugh Green Group. “The parade will feature traditional Irish music and dance performers, colourful floats, costumes and marching bands, celebrating the spirit of Ireland on Auckland's main street.” Following the parade, Tracey will entertain at the St Patricks Day Hooley, held at Florry McGreals Irish Pub in Takapuna, Auckland at 8pm with the “Pat for President” band. | A new CD named “30x30” launch presentation will take place on March 19th, 2024, at the Marucelliana Library in Florence, Italy. The CD “30x30”, is “an exciting sonic journey that will take you through new musical perspectives. | The Christchurch Accordion Orchestra directed by David Thorne and the St Albans Community Choir directed by Heather Gladstone QSM will hold a concert entitled “St Valentine Meets St Patrick” on March 17th, 2024 at 5pm.  Jenny’s Accordionists will hold a concert to celebrate the life of Richard Gregory at the All Saints Church in Fordham, Essex, England on April 13th, 2024 from 7pm.Jenny’s Accordionists were first formed in the late 1950's by teacher and conductor, Jennifer Neal (née Cross). Jenny passed away in 2013, however, the orchestra has continued to perform a varied repertoire of swing, classical, show tune, festive, popular and easy listening music from around the world. | The IFC International Folk Dance Camp will be held at Circle Lodge in Sylvan Lake, Hopewell Junction, New York, USA from May 10th to 12th, 2024. Six piece band “Balkan Fields” (picture above) will play live music at the event. Boston-based Balkan Fields has received accolades for their enthusiasm, musicianship, and harmony with careful attention to the needs of the IFC community. Maddelena Belfiore had such an enormous Massed Band (1000 accordionists!) in Nashville, Tennessee that she was hoisted up in a cherry picker to conduct the “Tennessee Waltz”, 1980.

I am creating an “ongoing” online article featuring photos from AAA events dating back to 1938. All events and all years are welcome! This article will be on the AAA website in the “Articles AAA History” section at https://www.ameraccord.com/articles.php It will be Article #43 and will hopefully grow regularly with all of your contributions! I have many boxes of photos and memorabilia from AAA achievements, events and competitions.
