| The Accento Ensemble will perform concerts at two historic parishes on the North Coast on Northern Ireland, which are both undertaking major restoration projects. “The visit by the Accento Ensemble presents an amazing opportunity for all music lovers to hear the accordion played by expert musicians in ensemble form.” Accento was formed in the 1990’s by a group of leading members of the Accordion Orchestra Wiesbaden Dieter Walther, founded in the 1950’s by Dieter Walther. The aim of Accento is to promote high class accordion music. Their repertoire includes music ranging from the Baroque and Classical eras to contemporary pieces including some which have been specially composed for the ensemble. The ensemble is led by accordionist and teacher Annegret Cratz and includes Martina, Gabriele, Norbert and Wilfred.  The Australian Accordion Teachers Association (AATA), will hold their 2023 Australian National Accordion Championships and Gala Concert on May 28th, 2023 in Sydney, Australia, led by President Tatjana Marx (picture right).After several years of holding very successful online events, the AATA is pleased to recommence face to face competition for 2023. This year’s event is focused on giving our local Australian accordionists the opportunity to gain valuable performance experience. Because of this, and the ongoing challenges of international travel costs and schedules, the competition will be open to Australian residents only for this year.
