 Les musiciens traditionnels de tous âges sont invités à se rassembler à Mullingar, Co. Westmeath, Irlande du 31 juillet au 7 août 2022 pour le Fleadh Cheoil Mullingar 2022 "The Homecoming", qui sera organisé par Mullingar Comhaltas Branch.Cet événement est la plus grande célébration annuelle au monde de la musique, de la langue, de la chanson et de la danse irlandaises et attire chaque année environ 500 000 visiteurs dans la ville hôte. L'événement est organisé par Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann et sera organisé à Mullingar en collaboration avec le comité exécutif local de Fleadh et le conseil du comté de Westmeath. | L'ensemble d'accordéon communautaire de l'Université du Missouri - Kansas City (UMKC) présentera deux représentations à Kansas City le 11 juin au Swan Dive Event Center au restaurant Vivilore à Independence, Missouri à 15h00 et le 12 juin 2022 au Kansas City United Church of Christ Social Hall à 14h00. Tous les musiciens sont d'anciens élèves de l'Université du Missouri - Kansas City et d'anciens membres du célèbre orchestre d'accordéon UMKC. Les musiciens vivent de diverses carrières, mais chacun est resté dévoué à la promotion de l'accordéon et de son répertoire varié, qui comprend des retranscriptions, des commandes et d'autres œuvres originales. Ils ont récemment joué à Chicago, San Francisco, Kansas City, le 80e anniversaire de l'AAA à Alexandria, VA. et à Superior, WI au World of Accordions Museum. En outre, ils ont participé aux États-Unis aux événements liés à la Journée mondiale de l'accordéon, avec des vidéos de leurs prestations retransmises en direct. L'ensemble d'accordéon communautaire de l'UMKC joue sous la direction de Joan C. Sommers qui dirige et joue également en tant que membre de l'ensemble dans certaines pièces. Joan C. Sommers a reçu le titre de professeur émérite à la retraite de l'Université du Missouri - Conservatoire de musique de Kansas City (États-Unis), où elle a établi et enseigné le programme de diplôme d'accordéon pendant quarante ans. Elle a arrangé d'innombrables œuvres pour l'orchestre d'accordéon et l'ensemble de chambre pendant de nombreuses années, des œuvres qui ont été jouées dans le monde entier. Elle a occupé de nombreux postes dans plusieurs organisations musicales, dont l'Accordionists & Teachers Guild, International (ATG) et la Confédération Internationale des Accordéonistes (CIA - IMC-UNESCO) où elle a récemment été nommée membre honoraire à vie. Aujourd'hui, elle aime se produire avec d'autres accordéonistes en duo, avec d'autres instrumentistes, avec l'ensemble d'accordéon communautaire (UMKC) et en tant que chef d'orchestre invité avec divers orchestres à travers le monde, notamment en dirigeant le magnifique "World Accordion Orchestra XI" à Shenzhen, en Chine, le 18 août. 2019.  Le président du concours de l'Association des accordéonistes américains (AAA), Frank Busso Jr. (photo de droite), invite les accordéonistes de tous les coins du monde à participer aux concours virtuels du Festival AAA 2022.Les catégories incluent les solos standard et ouverts, les duos standard et ouverts et les ensembles et groupes ouverts. Les concurrents des catégories Standard doivent choisir une sélection dans la liste de musique Standard. Toutes les autres catégories sont Open, ce qui signifie que vous pouvez jouer tout ce que vous souhaitez, sauf dans les catégories musique du monde, pop et jazz, où le style de musique est désigné.  Le CNIMA animera des ateliers d'accordéon pour tout niveau, âge et style avec Jacques Mornet et Nathalie Boucheix (photo de gauche) du 11 au 16 juillet 2022 et du 18 au 23 juillet 2022.Les ateliers sont « l'occasion de développer la technique instrumentale avec la méthode Jacques Mornet, une pédagogie gagnante qui a valu au CNIMA les meilleurs résultats mondiaux dans les concours internationaux ». Les participants apprendront : Travail instrumental, approche de l'accordéon comme instrument à vent, gestion de la colonne d'air et du soufflet, recherche d'un équilibre entre corps et instrument, travail sur le toucher et l'articulation, quête de musicalité, travail sur 1 ou 2 morceaux au choix (variété, classique, musette, jazz, balkans) et progression en vitesse accélérée.   The 7th “Eufonija” Festival of Accordion and Chamber Music took place in Novi Sad, Serbia from May 18th to 22nd, 2022, organised by the “Eufonija” Association.This year’s event was dedicated to the promotion of women in art with Neža Torkar (picture right) performing at the grand opening concert on May 18th accompanied by the Vojvodina Symphony Orchestra conducted by Bojan Sudjic. Their program included the world premiere of “The Queen Bee” Concerto, written for the accordion and orchestra by the prominent Iranian composer Arshia Samsaminia, which was commissioned by the “Eufonija” Festival exclusively for this event. Two other world premieres were presented at the event: "Turquoise" by European composer Snežana Nešic and "Missed Calls" by Svetozar Nesic. In addition the festival included masterclasses by Mie Miki (Japan) and Snežana Nešic (Germany). |

 Lors de la réunion du conseil d'administration de l'AAA du 10 mai 2022, Rita Davidson Barnea, a été nommée secrétaire de l'AAA.Rita est membre du conseil d'administration de l'AAA depuis 2001. En outre, pendant plus de 14 ans, Rita a été rédactrice nationale d'AccordionUSA, couvrant les événements, artistes, concerts, etc. qui ont lieu sur le continent nord-américain. Rita Barnea présente également des ateliers et des concerts sur les thèmes suivants "La vie et la musique d'Eugène Ettore". "L'utilisation de l'accordéon dans l'enseignement de la musique à l'école", et "Comment organiser une fête d'anniversaire pour les enfants". centrée sur l'utilisation de l'accordéon. Rita s'est également produite dans des récitals, des concerts, des ateliers et des festivals d'accordéon dans tous les États-Unis. Rita a pris sa retraite après une carrière de 30 ans comme professeur de musique dans une école publique à West Orange, New Jersey, où elle utilisait son accordéon tous les jours. Rita a eu l'occasion de se produire avec l'orchestre intergénérationnel du New Jersey aux Nations Unies il y a plusieurs années à New York, où elle a interprété en première la "Concert Waltz for Accordion and Strings" composée par Gary Daverne. Elle a également interprété le "Manhattan Concerto" d'Eugene Ettore avec deux orchestres symphoniques. Rita a déclaré : "Je me sens très honorée qu'on m'ait donné l'occasion d'interpréter son concerto avec un orchestre." | The 4th International Accordion Competition will be held in the Concert Hall named after Kazimierz Serocki and in the Concert Hall named after Irena Santor at the Frederic Chopin Primary Music School in Solec Kujawski, Poland from June 2nd to 4th, 2022. The event is organised by the Society for Development "Music Education - the Way of Success" with co-organisers the Marshal Office of Kujawsko- Pomorskie Voivodship, the Solec Kujawski Town and Commune Office, and the Frederic Chopin Primary Music School in Solec Kujawski. The Competition Director is Wieslaw Nowak. The competition is aimed at students from 1st and 2nd degree music schools with a variety of solo age categories and accordion ensembles from duos to orchestras. | Accordionist Nikola Djoric was invited to perform Piazzolla's concerto for bandoneon, piano and strings at a recent concert given by the Mödlinger Symphonisches Orchester under Daniel Auner in Burg Perchtoldsdorf, Austria. In addition to Piazzolla, the concert featured hits from film music by Alfred Newman, John Williams, Nino Rota, Wojciech Kilar and Hans Zimmer. Piazzolla's Bandoneon Concerto (also called "Aconcagua" by the publisher Aldo Pagani because "this is the culmination of Astor's work and the highest mountain in South America, Aconcagua") was composed in 1979. Piazzolla was at the peak of his musical creativity when he wrote this concerto for Simón Blech, a Polish conductor who was successful in Argentina. The character of a Chopin nocturne in the slow second movement of the concerto is a – unconscious or conscious – reverence for the Polish client. The concerto consists of three movements in the classical scheme fast-slow-fast. The soloist sets in immediately with a sharply focused tango, punctuated by harp and percussion under powerful string chords. The first movement, Allegro Moderato, contains a singing middle section and two cadenzas. The lyrical Moderato second movement begins with the bandoneon alone, finally joined by the harp in an elegantly reflective duet. After an exciting climax, the movement ends with a gentle restatement of the opening theme. The third movement Presto has much in common with 'La muerte del ángel' - the initial walking bass line, the rhythmically offset upward leaps of the solo entry. This finale is based on a very danceable street tango that Piazzolla first used in his soundtrack for the film Con alma y vida. "I didn't know how to end it," said Piazzolla. "And then I said to myself: I'll give them a tango, so that the scholars know that if I want to, I can write as they do, and if I want to, I can do my thing." At the end there is a slow, tender voice melodically pulsating tango, which then dissolves into a final rage that is almost pure rhythm: "Melancolico Final". |

  Video: Marec Pricopneac (Moldova)The British College of Accordionists (BCA), Principal Raymond Bodell (photo right) held their 2022 Anniversary Festival online this year in May. The event included a National Graded solo competition for each of the 12 examination grades, and an International Competition for soloists of all ages as well as junior and senior ensembles. Presidents of the 2022 International Jury were Andriy Dushniy and Igor Sayenko. Winner of the Senior Classical Category A: Marec Pricopneac (Moldova). Winner of the Junior Classical Category B: Dimitrije Knezevic (Montenegro). See BCA for full results list. |

The online Accordion Star International Competition 2022 was held last weekend from May 17th to 22nd. Competitors of all ages and levels from the USA, Canada, Italy, Germany, China, Ukraine, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Moldova, Norway, Sweden, Serbia, Kazakhstan, Russia, Latvia, Lithuania, Belarus, Croatia, Poland, Austria, Israel, Spain, India, Bulgaria, South Africa took part in 13 different categories. Further results are available on social media platforms. |

| “U’Elements” will perform a concert at the third classical music and jazz distribution project “Hello Music”, held at the Ciobiškis Manor in Širvintos, Lithuania on June 4th, 2022. U’Elements is an instrumental band uniting Lithuanian, Latvian and Armenian musicians which includes Povilas Velikis (accordion & synthesizer), Dmitrijs Mihailovs (accordion, synthesizer & piano), Arman Isojan (double bass) and Mihails Novikovs (drums).   Accordionist Michael Bridge will perform at the “Esprit Live 2022” concert held at the Koerner Hall in Toronto, Canada on June 9th, 2022 at 8pm, with a pre-concert talk at 7pm.The event will feature the Canadian premiere of Sofia Gubaidulina’s accordion concerto “Fachwerk”, with the Esprit Orchestra conducted by Alex Pauk. “The concerto is scored for accordion soloist, string orchestra, and percussion and has been performed hundreds of times around the world, but not yet in Canada. Fachwerk literally means “Wooden Scaffolding” and refers to a style of German architecture where the structural wooden beams are exposed and the joints are visible, forming crosses. The modern concert accordion has several button layouts on one instrument; Gubaidulina’s idea was for the accordionist to play the same button sequence with both hands, but on different button systems so that the mirrored actions produce different tones. Gubaidulina then found an ingenious way to turn this concept into a beautiful cadenza, by locating starting points for each hand that, when layered, sound haunting, austere, and sublime. Hence, she recounts, “The accordion itself wrote the cadenza,” from which the entire concerto blossomed”.
