  La date de clôture des inscriptions - le 4 septembre 2022 - approche à grands pas pour le 47e Prix et festival international d'accordéon PIF "Citta di Castelfidardo" qui se tiendra à Castelfidardo, en Italie, du 28 septembre au 2 octobre 2022.Règlement et informations complémentaires en anglais et italien sur : 2022Castelfidardo Inscription en ligne sur : 2022PIF-Entry La mairie de Castelfidardo (région des Marches, Italie), en collaboration avec l'association touristique Castelfidardo Pro Loco, organise le concours international PIF "Città di Castelfidardo" pour solistes et groupes d'accordéon, de musique classique et d'autres genres. L'événement débutera par un concert d'ouverture le 28 septembre qui comprendra une prestation du chanteur invité Mario Biondi (voir photo ci-dessous) qui se produira avec le Paolo Di Sabatino Quartet et l'accordéoniste Renzo Ruggieri sur la Piazza del Monumento à Castelfidardo à 21h30. Le directeur artistique Antonio Spaccarotella (photo ci-dessus à droite) déclare : « Le PIF doit devenir un vecteur de promotion de l'accordéon en tant qu'instrument polyvalent et flexible, entre les cultures et les influences les plus diverses, et donner l'occasion aux jeunes participants de se lancer et d'être entendus par les maisons de disques et les critiques ».  Le Dr William Schimmel a présenté des séminaires d'accordéon en ligne les 29, 30 et 31 juillet 2022, sur le thème : "Trop d'informations, trop peu de temps, mais nous le faisons quand même !" 2022SchimmelL'événement était un projet créatif de l'Accordion Global Association et Studio Muse - William Schimmel/Micki Goodman - Benjamin Niemczyk, Production et comprenait des Master Classes et des concerts. Comme lors de tous les séminaires passés, les interprètes et compositeurs étaient nombreux au programme de cet été, proposant un programme très diversifié de musiques de tous acabits (populaire, jazz, classique, contemporaine, etc.) et de sujets de discussion. De nombreux participants ont donné des conférences, joué et composé des œuvres pour les séminaires chaque année depuis leur création en 1995, mais il y a un nombre croissant de contributeurs plus jeunes et énergiques avec des idées et des créations nouvelles, en particulier dans le domaine des médias électroniques, qui sont venus à bord ces dernières années. Célébrations du 60ème anniversaire de l'Association d'Accordéon de Canterbury - Nouvelle-Zélandeby Kim Waddell |

  Après de nombreux mois de planification, la Canterbury Accordion Association (CAA) a célébré son 60e anniversaire à Christchurch, en Nouvelle-Zélande, le 23 juillet 2022.La journée bien remplie a commencé par une rencontre au Salvation Army City Corps à Christchurch avec des représentants d'Auckland de l'Association d'accordéon de Nouvelle-Zélande, Anthony Schultz de Melbourne/Australie (vice-président de l'Australian Society of Accordionists), des anciens membres et des membres actuels , des membres de Wellington et des alentours. Ce fut un moment de détente convivial et d’évocations de souvenirs grâce à l’expositiion (photo ci-dessus à gauche). Les souvenirs avaient été rassemblés par des membres du comité de la CAA et comprenaient des informations et des photographies sur les concerts passés, les compétitions, l'implication de la CAA dans la Christchurch Santa Parade, l'Orchestre d'accordéon de Christchurch et un bref historique de la CAA. Un large public a assisté au concert de l'après-midi, qui comprenait l'Orchestre d'accordéon de Christchurch (dirigé par David Thorne - photo ci-dessous) qui a ouvert le spectacle et fourni des segments de divertissement tout au long du concert.   Le Towersey Festival 2022 se tiendra au Claydon Estate dans le Buckinghamshire, en Angleterre, du 26 au 29 août 2022.L'événement comprendra 11 lieux avec plus de 100 groupes et artistes, des ateliers, de l'artisanat, des soirées de rue, du ceilidh, des sessions de musique ouvertes, des concerts et bien plus encore.  Video 1. XXVIII International Accordion Festival Palanga 2022 joint orchestra of accordions, conducted by Elona Rogieene.Video 2: Vilnius City Accordion Orchestra "Consona", conducted by Prof. Ricardas Sviackevicius with soloist Agne Stancikait. The XXVIII International Accordion Festival Palanga 2022 was held at the Palanga S. Vainiunas Art School and the Palanga Amber Museum in Palanga, Lithuania from August 1st to 6th, 2022. The event Artistic Director: Prof. Raimondas Sviackevicius, Project leader: Prof. Ricardas Sviackevicius, and Seminar leader: Prof. Eduardas Gabnys. The opening concert featured a performance by young accordionists of Samogitia and Klaipeda region Palanga. The festival included a variety of workshops, a chamber music evening entitled "From Piazza to Piazzolla" (Eugenia Cherkazova on accordion and Svitlana Shabaltina on piano, both from Ukraine), and concerts by Pawel Zaganczyk (Poland), soloists and ensembles of the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre Edvinas, Šiauliai Saulius Sondeckis Arts Gymnasium Accordion Quintet, the Vilnius City Accordion Orchestra "Consona" (conducted by Prof. Ricardas Sviackevicius), Jonas Vozbutas (picture left) among others. Grayson Masefield se produit avec Christchurch Symphony Orchestra - Nouvelle-Zélandeby Harley Jones |

 L'Christchurch Symphony Orchestra (CSO) a invité Grayson Masefield à se joindre à lui pour un projet intéressant au début de l'année, pour une représentation le samedi 30 juillet. Azul de Golijov, commandé à l'origine pour Yo-Yo Ma et son "hyper-accordéon", devait être interprété par l'orchestre symphonique de Christchurch, dans l'un des dix hôtels de ville les mieux conçus au monde sur le plan acoustique - le nouvel hôtel de ville de Christchurch, Nouvelle-Zélande. Le violoncelliste de Londres, Matthew Barley, et l'accordéoniste d'Auckland, Grayson Masefield, ont été rejoints par deux percussionnistes locaux pour former un groupe d'obligés. La partition prévoyait également une disposition non traditionnelle des sièges de l'orchestre symphonique de Christchurch pour les entourer. Le chef d'orchestre Benjamin Northey était ravi du succès du son créé par l'œuvre. Le public a vraiment apprécié cette pièce contemporaine, donnant à cette œuvre de 30 minutes les applaudissements les plus longs et les plus forts de la soirée. Radio New Zealand a enregistré la performance, dont le lien sera disponible sous peu. Le président, le trésorier et le secrétaire de New Zealand Accordion Association (NZAA) étaient présents, ainsi que des membres de Canterbury Accordion Association. | Composers from all over the world are invited to register for the 2023 Wolfgang Jacobi Composition Prize of the German Harmonica Association (Deutscher Harmonika-Verband - DHV) in cooperation with the German Accordion Teachers Association (Deutscher Akkordeonlehrer-Verband). The aim is to encourage an examination of Jacobi's compositional technique and the inclusion of a theme or fragment of Jacobi's theme in the competition compositions. The jury is chaired by the composer Prof. Moritz Eggert, Hochschule für Musik und Theater München. The prize of 3,000 euros is donated by Jacobi's descendants.   Brandon McPhee entertained with the Brandon McPhee Trio at the 50th Mey Highland Games held at the Castle of Mey, Show Ground fields in John O’Groats, Scotland on August 6th, 2022. The concert was attended by HRH Prince Charles who is the Chieftain of the games. Brandon was asked to write a tune for the event, which was played on the day. The Mey Highland Games is an annual event celebrating the sportsmanship, culture, heritage and produce of the far north Highlands. The Games were first held in the small Caithness village of Mey, to celebrate the 70th birthday of HM The Queen Mother, who was in residence at her beloved Castle of Mey. The Queen Mother was so delighted with the event that she encouraged organisers to hold it every year. |

 Michael Schwarzenbacher is a classical accordionist from Austria who combines multiple musical styles in his work. He is always looking for new ways to use the accordion. In addition to works from bygone eras such as the Baroque and Romantic periods, his repertoire also includes contemporary compositions. For the Vienna Cultural Summer, he chose a demanding program full of contrasts, which was enthusiastically received by the audience. His musical journey with works by J.S. Bach, D. Scarlatti, Y. Pagh-Paan, N. Huber and L. Janácek to B. Bartók and A. Piazzolla took him from Korea through various European countries to South America. A wonderful variety of accordion! |

 The Edinburgh Festival Fringe is one of the largest celebrations of arts and culture, attracting attendees from around the world. For three weeks in August, the city of Edinburgh welcomes an explosion of creative energy from around the globe.Artists and performers take to hundreds of stages all over the city to present shows for every taste. From big names in the world of entertainment to unknown artists looking to build their careers, the festival caters for everyone and includes theatre, comedy, dance, physical theatre, circus, cabaret, children's shows, musicals, opera, music, spoken word, exhibitions and events. Accordion enthusiasts will find an array of accordion related shows and activities at the 2022 75th Anniversary Festival. One such show is Madame Chandelier's Opera House Party. Have you ever wondered where the Grand Opera Divas go, in between getting married or getting killed, night after night at the Opera - Why they attend Madame Chandelier's Opera House Party, of course! Classically trained Canadian soprano, Delea Shand, performs on the comedy/cabaret circuit in the United Kingdom as Madame Chandelier where audiences join all her favorite opera characters for jokes, party games, and lots of dramatic death scenes! Nominated Best Comedy Show at the Manchester Fringe, Madame Chandelier accompanies herself throughout the show on accordion as she welcomes Diva after Diva to her party. The Fringe is a three-week festival of performing arts that takes place in Edinburgh every August. Its story dates back to 1947, when eight theatre groups turned up uninvited to perform at the Edinburgh International Festival. The Edinburgh International Festival was an initiative created to celebrate and enrich European cultural life in the wake of the Second World War. Not being part of the official program of the International Festival didn’t stop these performers, they just went ahead and staged their shows on the fringe of the Festival anyway, coining the phrase and name – the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Since the dawn of this spontaneous artistic movement, millions have flocked to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe to produce, and to enjoy art of every genre. To this day the festival features anyone with a story to tell and that has a venue willing to host them. You’ll find a variety of other accordion friendly shows such as with David Vernon and Dick Lee: The Sound of Musicals (The brilliant accordion and clarinet duo perform much-loved favorites from the musicals); Accordion Ryan's Pop Bangers (Covering artists from all across the pop music spectrum, Accordion Ryan will sing and play your favorite bangers in a way you've never heard them before!); The Failure Cabaret (The Fremonts have been married ten years and have the therapy bills to prove it. In this dark comedy cabaret, Stephanie Dodd from Fremont, Nebraska (vocals/accordion) and Justin Badger from Fremont, California (vocals/guitar) use original music to tell their story); Sandy Brechin and Friends (He's back! After two years of forced solitary accordion squeezing at home, and to the huge relief of his neighbors, Sandy returns to the A Club once again, upgraded, biceps bulging, pumped and well-oiled, along with special guest singer, the fabulous Wendy Weatherby, and other talented chums (plus one not so talented) for music and mayhem!). |

| Mitchell Zimmermann from Live Local 3 TV reported on accordionist Steve Solkela who took part in the Chisholm All Class Reunion 5K race in Chisholm, MN, USA last weekend while playing the accordion. The last time Solkela took part in the race he completed it in a time of: 34:34. This time he was aiming to beat that record. While waiting at the starting line, Solkela played “pump up” tunes like “Eye of the Tiger”. Solkela played his accordion the entire race, not stopping once and finished the race with a time of 33:57, beating his previous record! |

| Duo “Vilda” which includes accordionist Viivi Maria Saarenkylä and indigenous Samí singer Hildá Länsman (Finland) will perform at the Varanger Festival in Vadsø, Troms og Finnmark, Norway this weekend. The festival began on August 10th and will run through to August 13th, 2022. The duo play original music, composed and written by themselves, influenced by the northern nature, traditional Samí joik and Finnish folk, and pop music. |

| This week accordionist Zoe Tiganouria will perform 100th Anniversary concerts in recognition of 100 years since the evacuation of Eastern Thrace, as well as 100 years since the establishment of the Holy Metropolis of Alexandroupolis. The concerts will take place as follows: • August 13th: Metaxades Didymoteichou at 9:30 p.m. in Metaxades • August 14th: Feres at 9:30 p.m. in the courtyard of the Holy Church of Panagia Kosmosoteira. • August 16th: Samothrace at 9.30pm at the Stasidi of Apostle Paul. | The Note Noire 4Tet (picture below) will perform at Cammino Jazz 2022 – “Italian Jazz for the Earthquake Lands” at the Sottocorte Village in Camerino, in Italy on August 27th, 2022. The event is a musical journey that crosses the lands of central Italy hit by the earthquake of 2016 and includes a week of trekking and concerts from August 27th to September 4th, 2022. The Note Noire quartet features Roberto Beneventi (accordion), Ruben Chaviano (violin), Tommaso Papini (guitar) and Mirco Capecchi (double bass). They are a contemporary Italian jazz quartet and play a variety of their own compositions. The Jazz festival will finish with a variety of concerts in the squares and streets of L'Aquila City on September 4th, 2022. |

 Matt Tolentino will hold an online workshop on “Music of the Golden Age: Ragtime, Early Jazz and Early Swing” on September 12th and 13th, 2022, organised by Not Just Oompah.The workshop will run from 7pm to 9.30pm Central Time each evening and includes all workshop materials. Prior to this workshop, Matt will hold an online concert on September 11th, 2022, from 3pm to 4pm Central Time. Matt Tolentino is a multi-instrumentalist, band leader, vocalist, preservationist, and music historian. He has made it his life’s mission to perform and preserve pre-swing American popular music- hot jazz, ragtime, and the roots of swing, as well as traditional German, Czech, French, and Italian music for the modern audience to appreciate for years to come.
