| The 3rd Accordion Spring Festival will be held at the Conservatorio Statale di Musica "Gaetano Braga" in Teramo, Abruzzo, Italy from May 16th to 18th, 2024. The Art Directors are Massimiliano Pitocco and Renzo Ruggieri.  The New Forest Folk Festival will take place at Powells Farm, Plaitford, Romsey, Hampshire, England, UK from July 3rd to 7th, 2024.Accordion performers include “Slim Chance” (picture below), a six-piece group which includes accordionist Charlie Hart. “3 Daft Monkeys” (picture left) will also perform at the festival. | The 2nd open all-Russian competition “Russian Accordion and Bayan Championship” will be held in Tyumen, Russia from May 11th to 16th, 2024. This annual event is held with the support of the Golden Gate of Siberia Charitable Foundation, the Gnessin Russian Academy of Music, the Confédération Internationale des Accordéonistes (CIA), the Tyumen City Administration, ANO Muzis and the accordion factory and Bayanov Scandalli Rus. Students of children's music schools and children's art schools, students of secondary vocational education and higher vocational education institutions, as well as professional performers from Russia and other countries will be able to take part in the competition.  What are you doing for World Accordion Day (WAD) to promote the accordion in your country? World Accordion Day (WAD) is on May 6th, which is the day the accordion was patented in 1829.WAD was started in 2009 by the Confédération Internationale des Accordéonistes (CIA) and has been very successful, generating a lot of positive publicity for the accordion. A key part of this event is the WAD website. Every association, group, orchestra, performer and teacher, is asked to actively support WAD by encouraging national and local accordion activities to happen in their country on this day or the weekend either side of WAD if that should be more convenient. Everyone can register their WAD activity on the WAD website and send a report of their event after, for that website. No event is too big or too small. ALL accordion events celebrating WAD are welcome. This is a CIA promotion for the accordion in which every accordion enthusiast can participate and help bring our accordion world together as well as strongly promote the accordion. |

| The 2024 World Accordion Day and Dr Willard A Palmer Festival will be held at A World of Accordions Museum, Harrington Arts Centre in Superior, Wisconsin, USA from May 2nd to 5th, 2024. The event will begin with a free concert for families by Jane Christison and include a celebration dinner. The World Accordion Day celebrations will feature a special “Welcome” by Kevin Friedrich, Ambassador of the CIA, Q&A with Helmi Harrington, Ph.D., Founder and Curator of AWA and a welcome by the Mayor Jim Paine. Event honorees are: George Curletto, Willard A. Palmer III and Joan C. Sommers. Events will continue with a Museum Collections Visit, the World Premiere of the ATG sponsored documentary, “A World of Accordions . . . a Harrington Legacy”, performance by the Chicagoland Accordion Academy (directed by Mary Ann Covone), workshop by Joan Cochran Sommers “What should we learn between Book 3 and Book 10? Scales, Arpeggios, Chords and More!”, World Accordion Music concert by the Accordion & Concertina Music Band & Friends, and finishing with a performance by Mike Middleton and the Middletones, which includes Dr. Mike Middleton (accordion), Clayton Capps (tuba) and Lance Middleton (drums). Norman Seaton, Sharon Seaton, Alex, Johnny Young, A packed house of conventioneers and members of the community gathered at the National Accordion Association convention in Lewisville, Texas on March 22nd, 2024, to celebrate internationally renowned virtuoso Alex Meixner as he was presented with the Happy Music Ambassador recognition award. Happy Music Center President, Johnny Young, together with NAA president Norman Seaton and NAA board member Sharon Seaton, presented Meixner with the Happy Music Ambassador trophy and plaque, honoring his dedication and commitment to music, happiness and community. “This recognition award symbolizes appreciation for those with an unwavering commitment and dedication to creating, performing, teaching, and advocating as a catalyst for positive change through the universal language of music,” said Sharon Seaton. Johnny Young said, “Your unyielding dedication and passion for music have created a lasting impact, resonating not only within your community but also reaching far beyond. Your musical contributions have bestowed joy, positivity, and kindness upon the lives of many, serving as a poignant reminder of the transformative influence inherent in melodies and harmonies.” After the presentation, Meixner took the standing room only crowd through a musical journey showcasing the many varied styles and influences that helped shape his musical vision, set against the backdrop of a powerful Texas thunderstorm brewing outside. The Happy Music Ambassadors program proudly acknowledges and celebrates individuals who epitomize the spirit of happiness and inspire others through their musical pursuits.   The Quetschn Parade will be held at the Hall of the Municipality of Fladnitz in Fladnitz an der Teichalm, Weiz, Styria, Austria on May 4th, 2024, from 9am to 9pm, organised by the Quetschn Academy.The event will feature live music performances and one of the largest accordion exhibitions in Austria with over 70 different models that are available for visitors to try. Manufacturers will be on hand to answer questions and give support. The Quetschn Academy will be on site to assist with anyone wanting to learn the Styrian harmonica instrument. The event finale will feature a concert by “Die Wuzis” which includes accordionist Thomas Holzer (picture above right) and a raffle with a prize of a Styrian harmonica. Admission is free of charge. |

The concert will take place at the Auditorium del Carmine in Parma, Emilia-Romagna, Italy on April 8th at 6pm. Their program will include works by Vivaldi, Fauré, Krzanowski, J.S. | The Bachtopus Accordion Ensemble will perform a free concert at the Third Street Music School in New York City, USA on April 11th, 2024 at 7pm. Their program will include old and new music by J.S.
