This year, for the 14th time the Macedonian Association of Accordionists (MAA) “Ljubiteli na klasichna muzika”– Skopje supported the CIA international project "May 6th World Accordion Day" with various exciting musical events.

The association organized a solemn concert making the celebration of the international event and birthday celebration of the instrument. The WAD concert was held on May 7th in the hall of the Philharmonic in Skopje, in an intimate atmosphere. The new building of the Philharmonic offers a high-quality venue which the artists fully utilized.

The host was the most popular TV presenter in Macedonia - Ognen Janeski

Host of the event was popular Macedonian TV presenter Ognen Janeski. The WAD Gala Concert in the past years become an important and prestigious cultural and artistic event in the country and also abroad, thanks to the fact that the concert is broadcast worldwide by a National TV station. This year the concert will be broadcast on television as a part of the celebration of the National Holiday 24th of May, Ss. Cyril and Methodius.

The concert featured renowned artists and accordion students from the class of Prof. Zorica Karakutovska performing works by Semionov, Zubitsky, Bete Ilin, Piazzolla, Mozart etc. A famous Macedonian pianist Marija Gjoshevska accompanied the accordionist Filip Petreski in the amazing performance of the composition Rossiniana by V. Zubitsky. Filip, as one of the finest young accordionists, held a concert in the Chamber Hall of the Philharmonic on May 16th. The concert was organized by the Philharmonic.

At this year’s concert, the special guest Mirco Patarini (Italy) performed the premiere of the composition "Dafino" by the famous Macedonian composer Bete Ilin. The composition has been especially composed for this event and is dedicated to the CIA President Mirco Patarini and to supporting WAD.

The hall was occupied with a very enthusiastic audience which reacted truly emotionally and rewarded the musicians with well-deserved applauses. Their reaction to the performance of the composition "Dafino" was great with very positive comments after the concert. Mr. President has done his job very well!

During his stay in Skopje, Mr. Patarini was making an official visit of the Faculty of Music – Skopje and had a meeting with the Dean of the faculty, Prof. Zivko Firfov.

An article for the CIA activities and the international project "May 6th World Accordion Day" was published in the oldest daily newspaper “Nova Makedonija” with interviews of the CIA President Mirco Patarini, Prof. Karakutovska and composer Bete Ilin.

The Macedonian accordionists felt really privileged for the support with important dedicated space in the section for culture. As Mr. President wrote: “we have to believe in arts and culture, in particular music, that are the best way to improve our serenity, empathy and kindness. We must be able to convince our political leaders that to have better persons, means to have better communities.”
