DHV Accordion Music Prize 2024 - Germanyby Christine Johnstone |
The DHV (Deutscher Harmonika-Verband e.V.) Accordion Music Prize 2024 will be held in Ettlingen, Germany from May 9th to 12th, 2024. The competition is open for solo, duo, chamber, ensemble and orchestral music in a variety of categories up to 27 years of age. National competitions will be held in January and February 2024. The date for the National Association of Northern Rhine-Westphalia is February 18th, 2024. Foster & Allen Irish Tour - UKby Rob Howard |
Popular duo, Foster & Allen have announced their 2023/2024 Irish Tour will begin on December 27th, 2023 in Mullingar, Ireland, with concerts through to March 15th, 2024. Mick Foster and Tony Allen celebrated 40 years of playing together in 2015 and have released over 30 albums. See poster for concert details. |
Stas Venglevski Concert & Workshop at A World of Accordions Museum – USAby Rob Howard |
Stas Venglevski will perform at A World of Accordions Museum Harrington Arts Centre in Superior, Wisconsin, USA on October 15th at 2pm. Part of the proceeds from the concert will go to support A World of Accordions Museum. The following day, October 16th, Stas will give a free workshop at 2pm on original music for accordion. Video: “Cokiba” is a new duo by Japanese musicians Coba (accordion) and Jin Oki (flamenco guitar). The duo are performing their first single MV “God of Sorrow - Proserpina” where the instruments “intertwine exquisitely to create a unique sound.” “This work is a musical composition by Coba for the duo that depicts the love that appears in Greek mythology." Proserpina is the Latin name for the Greek goddess Persephone, best-known as the goddess of spring. The video was shot on location: Ishikawa Nishida Kitaro Museum of Philosophy in Tsubata, Ishikawa Otemachiyokan. |
XII International Accordion Festival Ferreira do Zêzere - Portugalby Christine Johnstone |
The XII International Accordion Festival Ferreira do Zêzere will take place on October 14th and 15th in Lisbon, Portugal, in collaboration with the Regional House of Ferreira do Zêzere. Program as follows: • October 14th at 9.30pm – performances by accordionists Jeremy Lafon (France), Gary Blair (Scotland), Tino Costa (Algarve), Rodrigo Mauricio (Lourinhã), Theresa Mauricio (Lourinhã), Julius Vitorino (Ferreira do Zêzere), Rodrigo Gomes (Ferreira do Zêzere) and Marcio Cabral (Ferreira do Zêzere). • October 14th at 3pm - Accordion masterclass, with international festival participants Gary Blair and Jeremy Lafon, in the Academia Artistica do Zêzere Collectividades Center in Ferreira do Zêzere. Registrations limited to eight participants. • October 15th at 4pm at Orlando Ribeiro Library Auditorium, Telheiras, Lisbon – performances by Jeremy Lafon, Gary Blair, Rodrigo Mauritius and Marcio Cabral. 39th VAMÖ Accordion Competition – Austriaby AWW |
The 39th VAMÖ Accordion Competition will take place at the Yamaha Music Europe Gmbh in Vienna, Austria on February 24th and 25th, 2024. The competition will take place all day for categories 1A+1B+1C on February 24th, 2024 and for categories 2+3 on February 25th, 2024. The registration deadline is January 24th, 2024. Finnish accordionist/composer Kalle Välimaa has just completed a one year long concert series of music by Johann Sebastian Bach in southern Finland, by playing one, two hour concert of his music every month. The series, entitled 24h Bach, was held from October 9th, 2022 to September 10th, 2023. Concerts took place in churches in Teijo, Turku, Hyvinkää, Kerava, Orimattila, Kouvola, Turenki, Mommila, Artjärvi, Tammela, Virolahti and Ruotsinpyhtää. Performances featured works such as The Well-Tempered Clavier, English, French, German (Partitas) Suites, Goldberg Variations, Inventions and Sinfonias, 16 Concertos, Cello Suites, Violin solo Sonatas and Partitas, some organ works and Chorals from the Four Passions. Kalle Välimaa was a pupil with accordionist Veikko Ahvenainen (1975-1980) and Kimmo Mattila (1980-1985). In Moscow at the Gnesin Academy Kalle Välimaa was a student of Vitaly Muntjan (1985-1991) and Friedrich Lips (1991-1992). For the polyphonic development, Kalle studied orchestral conducting with professor Vladimir Zenovjev (1986-1992). |

Dear Accordions Worldwide Is it possible to get the 3 videos form PIF 2023, Finale, premio category 17/9-23 in original high quality? I composed the finale work, Concerto piccolo and would very musch like to get the performances in as high quality as possible, as it was the premiere(s) of the work. Best regards Martin |
