Thousands of accordionists converge on Innsbruck for the 12th World Music Festival, 5th to 8th May, for the world's largest competition for accordion orchestras and ensembles. Since 1983 the German DHV have been organizing the World Music Festival every three years in Innsbruck. The event schedule and other information including the 28 page Invitation Booklet and Regulations, the jury list, is online at: 2016InsbrReport The international competition includes different categories such as accordion orchestras and ensembles, chamber music, harmonica orchestras, diatonic accordion ensembles. Concerts include: - Hubert Pixner Projekt - Giora Feidman & Gian Blodes The Gala-Konzert, 6th May will feature 2013 1st place Orchester AKUD “Sonja Marinkovic“ from Novi Sad, Serbia conducted by Goran Penic and the Nürnberger Akkordeonorchester, Germany, conducted by Dirigent Stefan Hippe. The Evening of Nations concert, 7th May, includes: – Orchester Hohnerklang Trossingen – Landes-Akkordeon-Bigband Hessen A-Train – Klaus Paier Trio – Royal Squeeze Box – Nebl & Nebl – Gitanes Blondes – Tangoschule Innsbruck.
