NAO West Scotland Area Festival - UKby Anna Bodell of Charnwood Publications |
The NAO West Scotland Area Festival, a qualifying festival for the UK Championships 2009 in April, was held on Saturday 21st February. The NAO West Scotland Area Festival attracted over 200 entries from various parts of Scotland, with a predominant number from the Paisley Academy under the direction of festival Co–Organiser Brian Laurie. The festival came one day after the funeral of prolific accordion teacher of 50 years standing, Jean Brown. Her son and accordion teacher, Ronnie, presented a new Challenge Trophy in memory of his mother. This was awarded to Alistair Hewitt. During the day there was also a presentation made on behalf of the British College of Accordionists to Archie Main – recipient of the 2008 Sir James Anderton Award for Excellence. Pictured is the Jean Brown Trophy presentation, the BCA Presentation, and Alexander Bodell who demonstrated the new Roland FR-1 accordion. The results of the NAO West Scotland Area Festival and the NAO South East Thames Area Festival held the following day are available on the NAO website. |
