 This year’s Accordion Extravaganza and Weekend of Accordion Workshops, including the Honoring of Daniel J. Desiderio, takes place from Friday March 30th to Sunday April 1st at the Hanover Marriott Hotel, 1401 Route 10 East, Whippany, NJ. The event is organized by the American Accordion Musicological Society (AAMS). A highlight of the weekend will feature an Honoree Banquet and Accordion Extravaganza Concert, and the 2012 Honoree of the AAMS is Daniel J. Desiderio, noted teacher, conductor, composer, arranger and recording artist. The workshops for accordionists and enthusiasts include: Mary Tokarski – ‘Performance Jitters’: How to practice to eliminate them Lenn Feldmann – ‘To Stroll or Not to Stroll’: That is the Question Dr. Robert McMahan - The Accordion in Opera Joan Grauman - Playing Ethnic music authentically Bernie Gardzallo - Transcription Palooza Performing and Transcribing music for accordion Alex Chudolij - The 3 Rs of MIDI Roland, Reedless, Regular Bruce Gassman - “Hey Mr. Bass Man; Yes YOU with the accordion” Suzy & Sam Andrews - Accompanying a Singer – A DUET? Dean Ratzin & Bob Lijana - Guido Deiro, The other brother Jim Vandelly - Similarities & Differences in the music of and construction of Bayans and Accordions Rik Kaplan – ‘Melodeon Treatment in the Music of Southwest Louisiana’ Guenadiy Lazarov - Tender Loving Care for the Love/Squeeze of your Life Kenny Iatarola & Linda Burns – ‘Killer Arranging for Accordion’ Frank Hodnicki & Dr. Lou Persic - Controlling your Bellows and Performance Demo Rocco (accordion) & Marina (cello) - Contemporary Classical Works for Accordion Bernie Gardzallo - The Alexander Technique for Accordion Stanley & Joanna Arnold Darrow - Practice Techniques: making the most of your practice time Guest performers include The Accordion Pops Orchestra (MD Al Terzo), Beverly Curnow, Mary Tokarski, Lenny Feldmann, Albert Manginelli, The Westmont Philharmonia Accordion Orchestra, and the Acme Accordion Club.
