 Accordionist Eva Zöllner performs in concert on March 15th, 7.30pm, at The Performance Centre, University College Falmouth, Tremough Campus, Penryn, Cornwall, TR10 9LX.For many years Eva Zöllner has been travelling the world with her accordion and does not only cross geographical borders. She is a specialist for contemporary music, and composers from Japan to Argentina have written new works for her. Eva is particularly interested in the combination of her instrument with computer sounds and live-electronics. Her program features brand new pieces for accordion and electronics and shows the current work of young composers all around the world. Eva Zöllner, born in Germany in 1978, was educated as classical accordionist at the Academy of Music Cologne and at the Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen. She is one of the most active accordionists of her generation and devotes herself to contemporary music. Eva has performed as a soloist in most European countries, in Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Cuba, the USA, Japan, Venezuela and in Mexico, where she was the driving force to establish the accordion in contemporary music life. She has worked with leading ensembles for contemporary music (e.g. MusikFabrik, Birmingham Contemporary Music Group, La Camerata de Las Américas), and in various opera productions (Royal Opera House, London). She is a regular guest at festivals and concert series all around the world. An important part of her activity is the close cooperation with composers. She has premiered around 100 new works for accordion. Lately she has been particularly interested in the potential of the accordion within electroacoustic music and multimedia art.
