The 1925 silent version of the ‘Phantom of the Opera’, starring Lon Chaney, was one the first horror films to come from Hollywood, and is a legendary cult classic of the genre. The film was often screened with accompaniment from piano or cinema organ. ‘Phantom of the Opera’ is to be shown at The Ivy House, 40 Stuart Road, London SE15 3BE, on Friday February 24th, 8pm. Live improvised music accompaniment will be performed by accordionist Igor Outkine.
