 The National Day Tiananmen Square 60th anniversary celebration of the founding of China included large-scale fireworks, an evening party, famous young singer Zuhai together with hundreds of young pioneers singing plus the well-known accordionist Yang Yi Bai. This important event was captured on China Central Television (CCTV), the highlight of Yang’s performance being the passionate performance of ‘Let's Dangqi sculls’, accompanied by joyful singing and dancing echoing across Tiananmen Square. This was an exciting moment for all accordionists and an important signal of the overall popularity of the accordion in the general population and in the mainstream music industry. |
