Efrem Podgaits’ 60th Birthday, Moscow - Russiaby Dr Herbert Scheibenreif Manager of Friedrich Lips Productions |
 On October 16th, in Moscow, during a 60th birthday concert for Efrem Podgaits, Friedrich Lips performed the composer’s ‘Ex Animo’ for bayan and string quartet (dedicated to Friedrich Lips and the Fine Arts-Quartet), whose first performance took place in Milwaukee, USA, in 2003. Efrem Podgaits is an outstanding Russian composer who has published many works for bayan such as ‘Fantasy in Memoriam of Alfred Schnittke’ and ‘Sonata” for bayan solo’, ‘Lips Concert’, and two other concerts for bayan and symphony orchestra. Podgaits’ most recent concert work ‘Viva Voce’ has been selected to be performed in the 3rd round of next year’s Bayan and Accordion Competition’ in Moscow.
