Guy Klucevsek, ‘Teetering on the Verge of Normalcy’, New York – USA

Highly acclaimed accordionist Guy Klucevsek will perform solo pieces in a program titled ‘Teetering on the Edge of Normalcy’, from the vast catalogue of over 100 pieces he has composed for accordion since 1982, including tributes to composers György Ligeti, Erik Satie, and Astor Piazzolla, and to fellow accordionists Lars Hollmer (Sweden), Kepa Junkera (Basque) and Ivan Milev (Bulgaria).  For part two of the program, Guy will be joined  by “New York's reigning classical/jazz violinist”, Todd Reynolds, to preview Guy's score for Lionel Popkin's new dance/theatre piece, ‘Ruth Doesn't Live Here Anymore’, inspired by the work of modern dance pioneer, Ruth St. Denis.

Guy Klucevsek has performed and/or recorded with Laurie Anderson, Bang On a Can, Brave Combo, Anthony Braxton, Anthony Coleman, Dave Douglas, Bill Frisell, Rahim al Haj, Robin Holcomb, Kepa Junkera, the Kronos Quartet, Natalie Merchant, Present Music, Relâche, Zeitgeist, and John Zorn. He is the recipient of a 2010 United States Artists Collins Fellowship. He has premiered over 50 solo accordion pieces, including his own, as well as those he has commissioned from Mary Ellen Childs, William Duckworth, Fred Frith, Aaron Jay Kernis, Jerome Kitzke, Stephen Montague, Somei Satoh, Lois V Vierk, and John Zorn.
