Gino Pigini Commemorative Stamp - Slovenia/Italyby Beniamino Bugiolacchi |

| On the occasion of the centenary of the birth of Gino Pigini (founder of the company Pigini srl) the Post Office of the Republic of Slovenia, at the suggestion of Philatelic Club of Castelfidardo, have issued a commemorative stamp which depicts this well-known craftsman of the accordion. The limited edition souvenir card can be obtained from: Cultural Club Filatelico, c/o Pro-Loco, Piazza della Repubblica, 60022 Castelfidardo, Italy. The stamp citation read: Gino Pigini was born in Castelfidardo on March 24, 1914. When he was just 12 years old, he began to work as an apprentice, he cycled 10k o Sirolo every day so as to learn the "art" of reeds for accordions made by hand. By the time he was 18 years, he had become known as a highly skilled "vociarolo" and was one of the most sought-after workers in the accordion industry. Together with his brothers he started to build accordions and in 1946 they founded the "Filli Pigini" whose product was immediately esteemed by the market for its excellent sound quality. After assuming the role of sole owner of the company, he, with the help of his wife Albertina and valuable colleagues began to create the Pigini of today. He would work for 14 hours non-stop without holidays as both production and sales manager and managed to reach an export of 98% of production, all this without knowing foreign languages and therefore not taking part in trade fairs or exhibitions. In midst of this hectic activity, his family remained his true point of reference, giving him his strenth and beliefs. His marriage with Albertina brought four children: Alberto, Agnese, Massimo and Francesca. He firmly believed in his youngsters who were creative, innovative and hard workers. The company "Pigini" is today renowned for high-quality accordions and is led by Massimo, Francesca and Federico Pigini, who work in close collaboration with fifty master craftsmen.
