 In 1947 Gorni Kramer and Wolmer Beltrami, then two of Italy’s foremost accordionists, joined forces for the next seven years as the duo Kramer & Wolmer, performing to great acclaim around Europe. They only made a few recordings together, and most are now on the new CD ‘Kramer & Wolmer – A 78s Compilation’. In 1954 the duo split as each wanted to resume their solo careers. However, for a generation of accordion enthusiasts, Kramer & Wolmer were the standard by which all other accordion duos were compared.The CD tracks are ‘Play the Accordion’, ‘My Beautiful Rose’, ‘Lady and the Waltz’, ‘Green Eyes’, ‘Tarantella Boogie’, ‘Air Mail Special’, ‘Brilliant Polka’, ‘Italian Polka’, ‘Clap Hands Polka’, ‘Danish Polka’, ‘Caravana Negra’, ‘The Train’ Gorni Kramer (1913–1995) went on to become one of Italy’s most successful songwriters, and Wolmer Beltrami (1922–1999) – awarded the CMA World Oscar for his services to the accordion in 1960 - later became involved with the cinema, recording many film soundtracks.
