Video 1: December 15th concert - The opening concert on December 15th included a performance by Radu Ratoi (Moldova, picture below) the 2018 Coupe Mondiale Champion and the 2020 winner of the VII International Bayan Competition, which was held in conjunction with the 2020 Moscow Festival. The opening event also included the 90th Anniversary Celebration of Anatoly Belyayev, People’s Artist of Russia. 2022 Festival Accords Des Montagnes - Franceby Rob Howard |
The 2022 Festival Accords Des Montagnes will be held at the Chalet des Roches in La Bresse, Vosges, France (picture above) from January 15th to 21st, organised by Frédéric Buch. The festival will begin with an Opening Gala Dinner in the Congress Hall, with entertainment by with Frédéric Buch and his Orchestra on January 15th at 8pm. Throughout the festival there will be performances and masterclasses by over 20 artists and groups. A Masterclass with Jean-Louis Noton & Roman Jbanov is for all ages and all levels and will run from January 15th to 18th. Roman Jbanov will cover body balance, imagination, bellows techniques, the work of sound & touch and Jean-Louis Noton will cover the possibilities of the digital accordion. This special orchestra is in honor of the ATG's 80th anniversary, and will be directed by Joan C. Sommers. Popular Japanese entertainer “Coba” performed at the 20th Christmas Creation 2021 Fashion Show & Exhibition, held at the KDDI Ishin Hall Main Hall Stage in Yamaguchi City, Yamaguchi Prefecture on December 12th, 2021. The event was held in conjunction with the "Yamaguchi Rovaniemi Design Week 2021”. Coba entertained during the opening act Christmas dance, playing "It's Christmas". He also performed while the models took part in the Denim Fashion Design Contest which had the theme "Upcycling with Jeans" as well as the Planning and Design Laboratory section (Yamaguchi Fashion & Textile Research Institute). |

Marco Lo Russo Wins Best Soundtrack Award at Monaco International Film Festival - Monacoby Rob Howard |
Accordionist Marco Lo Russo has won the Best Original Soundtrack Award at the 18th Angel Film Awards at the Monaco International Film Festival held this week in Monaco. The award was for Marco’s music for the Cuban/Italian film “La Machetera”. The movie was inspired by true events that happened in 1978 in Cuba, by those who courageously fought for women's emancipation and equality between men and women. Marco Lo Russo said “The good fortune of having lived Cuba for so many years, thanks also to the collaboration and friendship with Maestro Leo Brouwer, allowed me to dress this film with a soundtrack eager to tell the most authentic part of this wonderful country.” This year Marco Lo Russo has also won the award for best foreign film at the Los Angeles LA Femme Film Festival 2021 International Film Festival. |

The XII International Competition named after N.I. Beloborodov for young performers on the bayan and accordion will be held in Tula from March 28th to 31st, 2022. The competition will be held in 2 rounds and include the following age categories: • up to 9 years old (inclusive) • from 10 to 11 years old (inclusive) • from 12 to 13 years old (inclusive) • from 14 to 15 years old (inclusive) • from 16 to 17 years old (inclusive) • from 18 to 19 years old (inclusive) Competitors must perform their entire program by memory. Mirko Satto (accordion & bandoneon) will perform at the Tango and Cinema Event! in Padova, Italy on December 18th, 2021 organised by Veneto Padova Spettacoli. The event includes live music & tango with a silent film “The Four Knights of the Apocalypse” by Rex Ingram with Rudolph Valentino. During the evening there will be an Argentine tango performance by Estudio de Tango with Silvia Sollano and Stefano Gambarotto. The film tells the story of Madariaga, a wealthy Argentine landowner who has two daughters. One marries the French Marcelo Desnoyers, a lover of art and democracy; the other marries Karl von Hartrott, an authoritarian and militarist German. Both daughters give birth to a male heir, but Madariaga has a strong fondness for Julio, son of Marcelo, a lively and beautiful dreamer. On the death of the old patriarch, after dividing the inheritance equally, the family splits up and the Desnoyers go to live in Paris while the von Hartrotts settle in Berlin. Julio, who became a painter, falls madly in love with Margherite, a married woman, causing a big scandal and at the outbreak of the First World War, he refuses to wear the uniform and leave for the front. The Check Accordion Trio will perform two Christmas concerts this week which will consist of the trio’s traditional repertoire, supplemented by non-traditional staging of Christmas songs and carols. The whole evening concerts will be humorous. The first concert will be held in Litvínov, Ústí nad Labem on December 21st and the second will be held in Kutná Hora, Central Bohemia, on December 23rd. Planning for the 2022 National Accordion Convention is at full steam. We have already signed up a large list of presenters and performers, some of whom you may have seen in previous years, but some are also new to the convention. All are well seasoned accordionists and will conduct a large variety of interesting presentations and workshops. Save the dates: Wednesday March 16th to Saturday March 19th, 2022. Venue: Hilton Hotel, Richardson, Texas, USA (formerly a Hyatt facility) Bookings: Hotel registrations are now open at: http://www.accordions.com/naa/conv6Registration.html Convention registrations open in Mid December at: NAA There will be something for every accordion enthusiast: from playing in two orchestras, presentations, interactive sessions and play-along, accordion techniques, digital and acoustic accordions. Meet and mingle with music. • Thursday evening: Music around the world. We will dedicate rooms to different cities like Paris, Rome, Munich, and others. Stroll around with a beverage for an entertaining trip. • Friday evening: Dance Party - dance until your shoes fall off! We will have performers on stage entertaining you with Folk, Polka and Ballroom dance. • Saturday evening: Gala dinner with final concert. Covid-19 will most likely not be over, so we will follow all health guidelines of the State of Texas, the local authorities, and the Hotel to keep you safe. |
