Editorial - Gervasio Marcosignori (1927-2013)by Accordions Worldwide |
A path to fame began at the age of seven, when he played for Benito Mussolini in 1934. Delighted with his performance, the Duce embraced the little Gervasio saying, "Keep it up, good Balilla." The first teacher was his father John Gervasio. At age 15, Gervasio won his first music competition. In 1959 he was awarded the Oscar for the world accordion. Of particular importance its educational legacy: three volumes on "Technique of the accordion" To make Marcosignori, known and appreciated in addition to all his technical skills, was his unique interpretation of original music and transcriptions for accordion and other repertoires. Marcosignori has been in particular a great lover of classical music. The entire Accordion World is missing a great musician. |
