 Organizer Friedl Preisl announced in his speech that old and new elements will combine to make the 11th Viennese Accordion Festival a success – even after the extraordinary jubilee of last year. A main stream is dedicated to ‘A tribute to Lars Hollmer’ to remember the Swedish musician and founding member of the ‘Accordion Tribe’, who passed away in 2008. Lars Hollmer´s colleagues Bratko Bibic, Maria Kalaniemi, Guy Klucevsek and Otto Lechner will arrange special concert evenings in his memory. For the very first time in the history of the Viennese Festival, the ‘GÜRTEL LATE NIGHT TOUR’ offers concerts in the heart of the new music mile, beginning punctually at 11pm. Other features include the duo Renzo Ruggieri and Mauro De Federicis (Italy) and Martin Lubenov and Vladimir Karparov (Bulgaria). Other projects will be ‘Silent Movie Matinee’ - accordionists performing live to silent movie classics - and ‘Magic Afternoon’ for children of all ages, which are already highly appreciated by their numerous and enthusiastic public audiences on Sundays. Finally Sasha Shevchenko (accordion) and Maciej Golebiowski (clarinet), very well-known as the duo ‘Klezmer reloaded’, performed for the entertainment part of the press conference. |
