BAL4
Joe le taxi bandBristol bannerThe 15th Bristol Cajun & Zydeco Festival 2019 will be held at "The Bristol Folk House", 42a Park Street in Bristol from October 11th to 13th.

The will event will open with a performance by BAL4 (picture top) who will welcome everyone with their traditional Cajun ‘Bal’ dance music originating from the bayous of Louisiana, USA. Band members are Dennis Parnham (accordion, violin & vocals), Liz Manners (tifer, frottoir & vocals), Richie Wild (acoustic guitar & vocals) and John Trimble (violin & vocals). The group will also lead jam sessions on Saturday and Sunday.

Other performers during the festival include Cajun/Zydeco hotshots Joe Le Taxi (accordion) & The Zydeco Band (picture above left) who play a mix of lively, raw Zydeco dance music, authentic Creole blues, sleazy shuffles and old-school Cajun waltzes.

Playing traditional Cajun music from southwest Louisiana, a potent mix of fiddle and accordion, French singing and infectious dance rhythms, “Flatville Aces” (picture below) are a popular traditional Cajun band in the UK. Accordionist Gavin Lewery also fronts the highly regarded Z-Funk and several Louisiana musicians have recorded his compositions.

“The Cajun Roosters” includes three people from three countries: Chris Hall from England, David Buyle from Belgium and Hazel Scott from Scotland playing accordion, violin and guitar with vocals.

“Double Shots” include Chris Hall (accordion), Hazel Scott (guitar and scrubboard), Ben Topley (bass), Murray Brailsford (guitar) and Andy Watson (drums). They play Creole and “old skool” early Zydeco grooves alongside some of their own compositions.
