 Video: Ein kurzes Video vom Jubiläumskonzert.Das Jubiläumskonzert "20 Years of Bete Ilin's Compositions" fand kürzlich in Mazedonien statt. Die Komposition "Done" (Bete Ilin) wurde speziell für den Weltakkordeontag (World Accordion Day) komponiert und ist der Vizepräsidentin der Confédération Internationale des Accordéonistes (CIA), Zorica Karakutovska, gewidmet. Bete hat sich stets von der traditionellen mazedonischen Musik inspirieren lassen und die Motive in ihren Kompositionen für zeitgenössische Musik verwendet. In der Komposition "Done" hat sie drei wunderschöne Lieder ausgewählt, die den traditionellen mazedonischen Namen Done enthalten. Für das Jubiläumskonzert "20 Jahre Kompositionen von Bete Ilin" überarbeitete Bete die Komposition für eine Aufführung mit einem Streichorchester, das von Rebecca Tong dirigiert wurde. CIA-Präsident Mirco Patarini war aus Italien angereist, um beim Jubiläumskonzert die Bete Ilin-Komposition "Dafino" aufzuführen. Die Bilder des vollen Saals und des begeisterten Publikums zeigen, wie sehr Bete Ilin für ihre 20 Jahre an gefeierten Kompositionen geschätzt und geliebt wird, von denen viele für das Akkordeon komponiert und in vielen Ländern der Welt aufgeführt wurden. | Bereits zum achten Mal organisierte Slaviša Perić ein internationales Akkordeonfest in Graz. Es ist das Ziel des Direktors des Festivals, jedes Jahr KünstlerInnen, PädagogInnen, KandidatInnen aus verschiedenen Ländern zum friedlichen Wettstreit mit umfangreichem Meinungsaustausch zusammen zu bringen. Die positive Entwicklung der letzten Jahre gibt ihm dabei in seinem Wirken Recht. Junge Talente werden dadurch entdeckt und gefördert und das Akkordeon wird einer breiteren Öffentlichkeit bekannter gemacht. Ein besonderer Dank gebührt dem Kulturamt Graz und Bürgermeisterin Elke Kahr für ihr Verständnis und tatkräftige Unterstützung. 40 TeilnehmerInnen aus insgesamt acht Ländern (Österreich, Slowakei, Italien, Deutschland, Kroatien, Slowenien, Serbien, Bosnien und Herzegowina) zeigten in 13 Kategorien (Klassisches Akkordeon, Akkordeon mit Kammermusik sowie Virtuose Unterhaltungsmusik) ihr beachtliches Können. Nach der Eröffnung durch das Trio Artists zeigten vor allem Nemanja Kalajdžić, Djordje Perić, Marko Ristić (Bosnien und Herzegowina) sowie Peter Sokol und Sara Sokolova (beide Slowakei) ihr bereits in jungen Jahren beachtliches Können. Bela Brichzin (Deutschland) und Emanuele Viti (Italien) spielten ihre Erfahrung bei internationalen Wettbewerben aus und gewannen die höchsten Kategorien im klassischen Akkordeon und in der Unterhaltungsmusik. Die Jury bildeten Mirco Patarini (Italien), Herbert Scheibenreif (Österreich), Jovica Djordjević (Österreich/Serbien), Marko Miličević (Slowakei/ Bosnien und Herzegowina), Dragana Mladenović (Serbien), Maria Budzakova (Slowakei) und Slaviša Perić (Bosnien und Herzegowina). |

The tour will depart from Malemort, France on March 31st and travel to Burgos (Spain), Douro Valley, Porto, Coimbra (Portugal) and Lisbon.   Video: Guy Klucevsek: "Hope Dies Last": Official Trailer.New video trailer for the Guy Klucevsek album, "Hope Dies Last," available now. With excerpts from 7 of the 19 tracks. Musicians include Jenny Lin, Todd Reynolds, and of course Guy himself. Available now from Starkland: A new digital-only release of Guys music featuring pianist Jenny Lin, violinist Todd Reynolds, the Smudges (Jeff Gauthier, violin, Maggie Parkins, cello), and an avalanche of accordions played by Alan Bern, Bachtopus, Will Holshouser, Nathan Koci and Guy. Solos, duos, trios, and more. After retiring from performing in late 2018, Klucevsek wrote much of the music for this new album. 17 of the 19 tracks are heard here for the first time, including the premiere of his 6-movement suite for Laurie McCants’ multimedia piece Industrious Angels. These recordings feature such stellar musicians as pianist Jenny Lin and violinist Todd Reynolds. The music varies from the simple, deeply moving "Dear Werner" and the hauntingly spare melody of "How Slow the Whistle Sang" to the wildly raucous clanging of a toy piano in "A Little Madness in the Spring" and the powerful blasts, from multiple, full-throated accordions, in "String of Garlands". In this album, Klucevsek continues his tradition of writing “the world’s most abnormal ‘normal’ music” (Village Voice), wherein instantly appealing and seemingly simple pieces surreptitiously employ unusual and imaginative arrangements.  It is the time of year, once again, when my mind goes to holiday music, magical light displays, celebrations with loved ones, and to my all-time favorite movie, “It’s a Wonderful Life”. I have watched this heartwarming movie every Christmas season for the last 50 years. The message conveyed in this film is one that each of us should hear often: None of us is a failure if we have helped others, even in a small way.The star of this movie, Jimmy Stewart, has always been my favorite actor. Wholesome and warmly “real”, Stewart could so convincingly bring his characters to life. It’s a Wonderful Life, produced and directed by Frank Capra in 1946, was one of three Capra films that starred Jimmy Stewart. Capra felt that Stewart was perfect to project a message of an ideal America. The two men became close friends. I soon discovered that they had something else in common: they both played and loved the accordion. Given an accordion at the age of six, Jimmy Stewart fell in love with this instrument and it remained a beloved part of his life until his death. In 1938, Stewart was chosen to do a photo shoot for a cover of the new periodical, the “Accordion World Magazine”. The photos were mesmerizing with incredible shadows of his accordion’s bellows. Although Jimmy Stewart’s celebrated film career spanned 80 films and he was a Brigadier General in the Army Air Force during WWII (1941-1947), it was the accordion that meant the most to him in the end. Stewart chose one of the photos taken for the Accordion World Magazine in 1938 to be used when he passed away. Jimmy Stewart died in 1997 at the age of 89. I strongly suggest watching “It’s a Wonderful Life” this holiday season. | Soufflets en Liberté will hold a “Stepping Concert” for accordion students at the Salle Linsolas, Bruges Music School in Bruges, Belgium on December 16th, 2023 at 6pm.   A “Great Christmas Play-in” will be held at the Kulturhus 't Kruispunt in Laren, Gelderland, Netherlands on December 17th, 2023 from 10am to 5pm.The event celebrates the 75th anniversary of Zweverink Muziek and the 25th anniversary of NJAO (Netherlands Youth Accordion Orchestra). Over the past 25 years, various students/youth orchestra members of Dinie Zweverink have been part of the NJAO, so conductor Jorind Josemans approached Dinie to organize a play-in and concert together. The day will begin with the “play-in” together with the NJAO. Approx. 40 accordionists from all over the country have already registered to play with the NJAO. A final concert will be held at 3pm and feature performances by the NJAO, the NJAO with the play-inners, the Jubilee Orchestra and finally everyone will play together – over 100 accordionists. Their program will include music by Astor Piazzolla, Karl Jenkins, Vangelis, J.S. Bach, and Whitney Houston. If you wish to participate please email: secretaris@njao.nl |

 Das ATG Festival 2024 ehrt Joan C. Sommers und feiert ihren 90. Geburtstag in Kansas City MI vom 23. bis 27. Juli 2024.Es gibt eine Reihe von Sonderveranstaltungen, darunter das ATG Festival Orchestra unter der Leitung von Joan C. Sommers, das neue Musik von Gorka Hermosa und Ian Watson spielt, und das UMKC Community Accordion Orchestra unter der Leitung von Joan C. Sommers.
