Accordion Gems
On November 10th, the Northern Wairoa Maori, Maritime and Pioneer Museum in Dargaville hosted an event in their Lighthouse Function Centre to celebrate 160 years of Dalmation Settlement in New Zealand.

Hundreds of people from all over the North Island of NZ attended the event, which included entertainment by accordionist and vocalist Diana Letica, the Dargaville Cultural Kolo Club & Tamburica band, the Kaitaia Cultural Club Tamburica band and the Dalmation Cultural Society Choir.

In addition, the Dargaville Museum held gum washing displays throughout the afternoon. This museum features a permanent display 'Accordion Gems' by Kevin Friedrich which is an accordion collection of over 200 historic accordions and history of accordion in New Zealand.

The accordion was a pominent part of the musical history of the Dalmation people in New Zealand and Kevin Friedrich was able to attend this celebration.
