Concert Dedicated to World Accordion Day, Moscow - Russia

Alexander Selivanov and Mikhail Bourlakov
posterLast week there was a most interesting and special concert featuring accordion, in a very prestigious hall, which never happened before. This concert was dedicated to World Accordion Day.

The venue, the Main Stage of the Concert Hall of Moscow State Conservatory "Tchaikovsky" is one of most prestigious and well known classic concert stages in the world.

Since 1901 pianists, violinists, conductors and singers of the highest calibre have performed on this famous stage. To appear there just in orchestra or in a short recital already is a big honor. To play a solo concert is very exclusive.

And especially this stage is important for accordionists with so very few accordion appearances in this long history. Perhaps this is the first time in the long history that has happened a full evening concert in two parts featuring accordion.

Mikhail Bourlakov, docent of Gnesin, Russian Academy of Music, with his ensemble "ClassicForum" performed in the first part of the concert program, music by Astor Piazzolla.

In second part of the concert, the chamber choir of the Moscow Conservatory and the chamber group "New Music" which included accordionists Mikhail Bourlakov and Alexander Selivanov, directed by Alexander Solovyov, made a premiere Moscow performance of the composition "Misa a Buenos Aires" by Argentinian composer Martin Palmieri. This music combined genres of Mass and Tango.

The Moscow State Conservatory "Tchaikovsky" Hall has over 1,700 seats and this night, the concert hall was full.
