CD FOR GERSHWIN LOVERS - USA Contributed by Henry Doktorski Accordionist Henry Doktorski has just finished his first recording session with the Duquesne University Chamber Ensemble of Gershwin's compositions, including ‘Rhapsody in Blue’. Henry believes "the Rhapsody has been performed many times with accordion, but the most amazing performance using accordion instead of piano was the very first radio broadcast of the Rhapsody in 1924!" The Rhapsody has become a staple of the accordion repertoire, and it has inspired other composers to write works for accordion and orchestra. The CD is scheduled for release on Gershwin's 100th birthday, September 26th 1998. |
