As the American Accordionists' Association (AAA) continues to prioritize the health and safety of its members and event attendees, the association’s second virtual competition provided a stellar opportunity for accordionists of all ages and abilities to perform, compete, and improve. Competition organizer Frank Busso Jr. oversaw the event, with Mike Silvia providing technical and assistance for the contestants and adjudicators. This year’s entries were adjudicated by Frank Busso Sr., Joanna Darrow, Kevin Friedrich, Eddie Monteiro, and Mary Tokarski. This fund, managed by The Community Foundation for Greater New Haven (Connecticut), was established in 2018. It was created by Mary Tokarski to honor her late husband Frank, who lovingly supported her music through the decades, and for her to give young people the ability to “experience the enrichment and the joy that comes from making music.” The AAA thanks Mary for this appreciated ongoing legacy. |
