  The Kronendal Music Academy (KMA) of Hout Bay in Cape Town, South Africa run an after-school programme using the healing power of music to build self-confidence and the magic of music to develop skills which children need, to be successful. Their mission is to “provide a stable, safe and nurturing afternoon environment where the magic of music tuition develops children’s self-confidence, leading to enhanced cognitive, emotional and social skills and helping them grow into future-fit, resilient individuals whilst advancing and preserving South African musical culture.” Earlier this year, Weltmeister Akkordeon Manufaktur in Klingenthal, Germany, donated a brand new accordion to student, Athula Dakuse (picture above right), in recognition of his progress and determination over the last 5 years. The video above shows the accordion arriving for Athula. This year the KMA launched the “Shine Community Hub” (Safe, Healthy, Inspired, Nutured and Engaged).
