John Kirkpatrick performs at The Royal Oak, Station St, Lewes, East Sussex BN7 2DA on Thursday October 7th, 8pm. This is the opening event of the annual Lewes Folk Festival. John Kirkpatrick, 3-row diatonic accordion, melodeon and Anglo concertina, is one of the busiest, most popular and highly regarded figures on the English folk scene, performing solo, in duos, acoustic groups and electric bands. He has an enviable reputation as an instrumental virtuoso and session musician, as well as a leading interpreter of English folk music and song. He has been a member of the Albion Country Band, Magic Lantern, The Richard Thompson Band, Umps and Dumps, Steeleye Span, Brass Monkey, Trans-Europe Diatonique, and Band of Hope, as well as in numerous ceilidh bands. It is in a solo capacity that he performs at the festival. |
