Teemu Haapaniemi Accordion Goes Laser
The Kokkola Winter Accordion Festival is a modern city festival held every February since 1999. 17th to 24th February 2013.

This popular festival presents the accordion as a musical instrument in all its versatility, offering a variety of performances and events. During the week, there are high-brow classical music concerts, entertaining children’s concerts, top-notch jazz performances and laid back club shows featuring modern folk music or rock.

The fans of traditional accordion music are not forgotten. A series of free public performances creates a cheerful atmosphere throughout Kokkola, in the city’s shopping centers and restaurants.

Artistic director since the festival’s debut is Raimo Vertainen, who also conducts the acclaimed Guardia Nueva Tango Orchestra. The festival week culminates in a grand performance of this soulful and spirited orchestra. Joining Guardia Nueva each year are guest artists from among Finland ’s most renowned musicians.

Other highlights include Richard Galliano, soloist with the Osthrobothnian Chamber Orchestra, the first time that Galliano has performed as a soloist with orchestra in Finland. The concert will broadcast live on the YLE Radio 1 channel.

Teemu Haapaniemi Accordion Goes Laser, a show with disco pieces from the 1980's-decade. Laser lights, costumes with disco and music, singing and dancing. This is absolutely huge.

Kokkola features many other musical events and everyone is warmly invited to share the musical experience that has become, Kokkola Winter Accordion Festival.
