Roman Semeryak Presented New Accordion! @ Novosibirsk – Russia

Roman Semeryak, Roman JbanovDuring his recent guest performance at an accordion festival in Siberia, Scottish accordionist Gary Blair was introduced to 15 year old Roman Semeryak, a blind Russian boy who is an aspiring accordion player in need of a better instrument.

Gary then set up an appeal on social media to raise funds, and this received a rapid and heart-warming worldwide response that met and exceeded the funds required to buy a quality new Bugari 120 bass piano accordion.

The presentation of the new accordion was made on March 25th to young Roman Semeryak at the National Bayan Competition concert in Novosibirsk, Siberia, featuring accordionist and composer Franck Angelis (France) and Roman Jbanov (France). According to Gary Blair, “He was the happiest boy in the world!” The following day he and several others attended a masterclass by Franck Angelis.

Gary commented “The Russian people were amazed at the generosity of people from all parts of the world. They find it important to encourage the young talent in the accordion world and help strive for world peace through music."

Roman Semeryak (along with his new accordion!) and several other young accordionists from Siberia will be travelling to France to compete in a couple of competitions and concerts ...thanks again to everyone that made this little boy’s dream come true!”.
