CIA Merit Award to Alexander Sklyarov - Russia

Alexander SklyarovCIA Merit Award was presented at the 2015 Coupe Mondiale in Finland to Alexander Sklyarov (Russia). He was not able to present.

Alexander Sklyarov was born on 16 July 1949, in Borsoglebsk (Voronezh Region). He is an accordionist and a laureate of the international competition. In 1964 he graduated from the children’s music school in Borisoglebsk, where he was taught by V.P. Maslov. In 1968 he graduated from Gnesin’s musical college in Moscow, where he studied in the class of professor A.T. Gatsenko. He studied in the Russian Academy of Music in the classes of prof. A.A. Lubennikov and prof. S.M. Kolobkov, and graduated in 1973.

Since 1973, Alexander Sklyarov has been a teacher at the Voronezh Academy of Arts and few years later he has worked as a solo performer with the Voronezh Philharmonic. He won the 1st Prize in the international Coupe Mondiale accordion competition in Brugge (Belgium) in 1971, and the Silver Disk Award in the international competition “Bayan and Bayanists” in Moscow in 1994.

Alexander Sklyarov has performed in many countries of the world and is regularly, invited to be a member of the jury in competitions. In 1994, Alexander Sklyarov was named The People’s Artist of Russia.
