 The Shannon Vale Céilí Band - All Ireland Champions 2011 – present the official launch of their debut CD ‘Shannon's Lovely Vale’, which takes place on Saturday June 7th, 8pm, at The Listowel Arms Hotel, County Kerry. Some of the special guest artists who will appear in concert on the night include Maurice Lennon, Cyril O’Donoghue, Johnny ‘Ringo’ McDonagh, Nan Tom Taimín de Búrca, Sliabh Luachra Set Dancers, and world champion dancers Niamh O’Brien and Tomas O Se. The band will perform for an evening ceili. The CD will be available through the band’s website.The band comprises an impressive line-up of musicians featuring Sheila Garry and Colm Kissane - fiddles, Danny O’Mahony – accordion, Marianne Browne - flute, Joe O’ Sullivan - flute and vocals, Mike Collins - banjo, John Collins – drums, Patsy Broderick - piano. The combined result is a powerful and dynamic overall sound, enriched by the spectrum of individual styles and a shared appreciation of the music and song of North Kerry. At the invitation of President Michael D. Higgins, The Shannon Vale Céilí Band performed for the St. Patrick’s Day celebrations in Dublin on March 17th 2014. |
