| Video: Martynas Levickis (Lithuania) performing the French Suite No. 5, BWV 816: Loure from the album "Autograph". Martynas Levickis (Lithuania) has been awarded this week in Germany with the Opus Klassik 2023 Instrumentalist of the Year award for his new album "Autograph". The Opus Klassik is the award for classical music in Germany. The award ceremony will be held on October 7, 2023 at the Elisabeth Church and on October 8, 2023 at the Konzerthaus in Berlin. Martynas' next concert will take place on July 7, 2023 at 19:00 at the Hohen Luckow Castle in Mecklenburg, Germany, as part of the Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Martynas will perform in an accordion sextet with Siniša Ljubojevic, Wieslaw Ochwat, Kamila Olas, Maris Rozenfelds and Ðorde Vasiljevic. Their program will include several works by Tchaikovsky for accordion sextet. |

Un hermoso arreglo de jazz para acordeón de bajo libre de Joseph Natoli, grabado en octubre de 2018 en la Bartell Music Academy en Spokane, Estados Unidos.El festival Accordionists & Teachers Guild, International (ATG) 2023 se celebrará del 19 al 23 de julio de 2023 en Lisle, Chicago, Estados Unidos, Vendrán artistas de todo el mundo, como Grayson Masefield, de Nueva Zelanda, que estrenará la última composición de Gorka Hermosa (foto de la izquierda) titulada "Meditatio". También actuarán el Dúo Kollektiv (Austria), la Orquesta Polyphonia (Isla de la Reunión), Nikolay Bine (Canadá), Stas Venglevski (EE.UU.) y el Conjunto de (UMKC) Community Accordion Chamber Ensemble, dirigido por Joan Sommers (EE.UU.). Este año, Kevin Friedrich estará acompañado por el organista Tony Payne (Profesor Asociado de Música, Director de Programas Especiales y Series Artísticas del Wheaton College), Ron Dake (acordeón bajo) y Nathaniel Holman (percusión) en la interpretación de una obra titulada "Dargaville Impressions", del conocido acordeonista y compositor inglés Ian Watson. La obra, de dos movimientos, fue encargada por Kevin Friedrich en honor de la remodelación del órgano histórico de la Iglesia Anglicana de la Santísima Trinidad de su ciudad natal, Dargaville, Nueva Zelanda. | El 2023 Cotati Accordion Festival se celebrará en La Plaza Park, La Plaza, Cotati, California, EE.UU. el 19 y 20 de agosto de 2023. A partir del mediodía del sábado, 19 de agosto, el Zydeco Dance Party se abre en Spanky's, adyacente al parque, No sólo hay baile en el interior del club, pero hay un montón de espacio para bailar fuera en la amplia acera adyacente al club que estaba lleno de bailarines el año pasado. Mark St. Mary, galardonado con el premio a la "Mejor banda de zydeco" por la Bay Area Blues Society, será el telonero y el "Rey del Delta" nunca deja de ofrecer lo mejor de la música zydeco tradicional de Luisiana.   Accordionists entertained at the Glastonbury Festival which was held at Worthy Farm in Glastonbury, Somerset, England, UK from June 21st to 25th, 2023.London-based Russian accordionist Igor Outkine (picture above left) performed as well as the Good Habits duo, which features accordionist Pete Shaw and singer-cellist Bonnie Schwarz (picture above right). This year’s festival had over 210,000 attendees plus included over 40 hours of television coverage which aired on several BBC channels and over 85 hours of live radio coverage. |

| Parno Drom will perform at the Seattle Polish Festival, held at the Seattle Centre Armory & Mural Amphitheatre in Seattle, Washington, USA on July 8th, 2023 from midday. The group, which features Bob Kozak (accordion & vocals), Katya Kiselyova (guitar & vocals), Lubov Plett (violin) and Elizabeth Lesztak (dancer), perform Eastern European Romani (Gypsy) style music from Russia, Poland, Hungary and beyond. They sing in the original language of each song including the Romany language of the Gypsies. The Polish Festival Seattle is a family-oriented event for the Greater Seattle multicultural community.  The St Audries Bay Accordion Week will be held in St Audries Bay, West Quantoxhead, Nr Minehead, Somerset, England from July 14th to 21st, 2023.The event features a week of professional orchestra workshops, master classes, private lessons, concerts, ceilidh and general bellows related fun. Workshops include: • Musical Improv and Playing by Ear by Andrew Purkiss, which will focus on listening skills, improvisation and playing by ear. This will include playing without music using a simple tune to create and arrange together. • Technique and Bellows Work by Sammie Peckover-Mitchell, which will incorporate some simple exercises with bellows work to brush up your technique. • Ways to Approach Performance Anxiety by Caroline Hussey. If you’re an anxious player please come along and talk about what happens when we’re feeling anxious, and ways we can prepare for and cope with nerves when performing. • Introduction to the B-System Accordion by Lisa-Lee Leslie who will be offering the opportunity to come and learn all about the B-system accordion.   Amélie Dénarié (picture above left) & François Heim (picture above right) will run a Diatonic Accordion Workshop in Hamlet of Chalap, Senechas, France from July 16th to 22nd, 2023, organised by the Balagan Company.The workshop is for all levels except beginners and will cover right hand chords on different rhythms, how to diversify the left hand, independence of the hands, the use of the air valve, the effects of bellows and the different touches to learn how to evolve a melody according to your level and help you find your interpretation.
