"Celebración de los 100 años de Erling Grönstedt - Sueciaby Christine Johnstone |

  Foto de la derecha: Erling Grönstedt tomada en 1937, cuando tenía 14 años. Fue campeón sueco juvenil. Este acordeón está en la colección del Museo Kramfors junto con otros objetos donados por la familia Grönstedt.Los días 28 y 29 de julio de 2023 se celebrará en Kramfors, Suecia, la fiesta "Erling Grönstedt 100 años", organizada por Jörgen Sundeqvist. Erling Grönstedt (1923-2012), su hermano Karl Grönstedt (1912-1983) y los miembros del cuarteto Hans-Erik Nääs (1910-1984) y Andrew Walter (1914-1978) crecieron en el mismo pueblecito y fueron acordeonistas conocidos y respetados. Los cuatro se inspiraron en los acordeonistas italoamericanos Pietro Frosini, Pietro y Guido Deiro, Anthony Galla-Rini y Charles Magnante. Desarrollaron su propio estilo musical y forma de tocar el acordeón, lo que les hizo únicos y famosos. Aportaron algo nuevo y una forma más moderna de tocar y componer música. Erling Grönstedt fue también el primer profesor de acordeón de Suecia e introdujo el acordeón clásico como instrumento serio en las escuelas de música. Muchos acordeonistas conocidos en Suecia han sido alumnos de Erling Grönstedt. | La Orquesta de Acordeones de Londres (LAO) celebrará un concierto conjunto con la Joven Orquesta de Acordeones del Estado de Baviera (dirigida por Stefan Hippe) en la Iglesia de San Gabriel en Pimlico, Londres, Inglaterra, Reino Unido, el 3 de septiembre de 2023 de 14:30 a 16:30. Este concierto forma parte de una serie titulada "Bellows Across Borders". Su programa incluye música de Astor Piazzolla, Márquez (Danzón nº 2), una nueva pieza del director de LAO Ian Watson, la famosa "Pompa y Circunstancia" de Elgar, música de Händel y Tchaikovsky, así como obras originales para orquesta de acordeones.  The Illinois State Music Teachers Association honoured Amy Jo Sawyer with the Foundation Fellow Award for 2023 for making a “significant and substantial impact on the lives of others through music and service”.She received the award at the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) Conference held in Reno, Nevada, USA earlier this year. Amy Jo Sawyer has devoted much of her musical career to the accordion. Her concertizing, composing, arranging, and administrative activities, currently President of the Accordionists & Teachers Guild, International (ATG), have enhanced recognition of the accordion as a concert and popular/jazz instrument. Amy Jo has written music for, and performed with, the University of Missouri at Kansas City Accordion Orchestra, under the direction of Joan Sommers, on four international tours. She has performed with the Sacramento and St. Louis Symphonies, including accompanying tenor Luciano Pavarotti. |

 The 3rd International Accordion Festival Accordiomania 2023 organized by the Accordiomania Art Association and Panayot Pipkov National University was held in Pleven, Bulgaria from June 29th to July 2nd, 2023. Teachers and musicians from Germany, Spain, Moldova, Ukraine, Serbia, Bulgaria, Bosnia and Herzegovina took part.  Mary Ann Covone, Accordionists & Teachers Guild, International (ATG)President was featured in the Sigma Alpha Iota quarterly journal Pan Pipes. The article tells about Mary Ann’s journey with the accordion, beginning with a historical review of the popular “heyday” of the accordion in the 1940-1970’s, her decision to attend University of Missouri Kansas City Conservatory of Music to study accordion performance with Joan Cochran Sommers, returning to accordion after a 30-year career as an attorney, and then becoming president of the ATG.The article also gives an excellent short story of the history of the ATG, the recent and coming festival, the value of the ATG syllabus, and the establishing of her Chicagoland Accordion Academy. The Pan Pipes journal was distributed to just under 10,000 professional musicians, professors, teachers and music students in colleges and universities. | “Foleada”, which includes accordionists Jamie Maschler and Gabe Hall-Rodrigues, will perform at the annual Festa Junina, held at Om Culture in Seattle, Washington, USA on July 8th, 2023 from 5pm. Festa Junina celebrates the harvest season in Brazil. Dancing is an important part of the celebrations and is centered around the quadrilha, a typical Festa Junina dance accompanied by live Forró music by Foleada, with DJ Tomás “spinning great music during band breaks”. Attendees can expect Brazilian Square Dancing, Xaxado performance (full costume) by Bahia in-Motion, fun games for children and much more. Children 12 and under are free of charge.
