  Le 65éme Trophée Mondial de la CMA sera accueilli à Martigny, Suisse, du 20 au 25 octobre 2015, par l’un des délégués de la CMA pour la Suisse, Yves Moulin (photo en bas à gauche).Le président de la CMA Frédéric Deschamps (photo de gauche) déclare : « Nous sommes ravis de rendre visite à la Suisse pour la première fois depuis 1984 et d’avoir la ville de Martigny pour lieu de notre Trophée Mondial 2015 » Le Trophée Mondial qui ces dernières années a attiré des concurrents de plus de 20 pays à travers le monde, proposera aussi bien les catégories traditionnelles de la CMA — Classique senior et junior ; Trophée National (Masters) ; Variété senior et junior et world music — que quatre catégories National Trophée junior : moins de 10 ans, moins de 12 ans, moins de 15 ans et moins de 17 ans, destinées à apporter l’expérience et la motivation à la jeune génération des accordéonistes et à ses professeurs car celle-ci constitue sans doute l’avant garde des futurs candidats des grandes catégories, tout ceci avec des prix financiers conséquents.  L’accordéoniste Jörgen Sundeqvist était en soliste avec le Nordic Chamber Orchestra, dirigé par Niklas Willén, pour la création de ‘The Accordion King’ – nouveau concerto multi-media de Fredrik Högberg.Mirco Patarini écrit : J’ai été invité à assister aux premières et je pense que ces 22 et 23 janvier 2015 resteront des dates importantes dans l’histoire de l’accordéon. Les deux salles de Kramford et Sundswall étaient pleines et j’ai eu le privilège de rencontrer le compositeur et d’apprendre de lui et de Jörgen l’histoire et le sens profond de ce concerto multimedia et de son titre. Ce fut une grande expérience que de prendre part en totale immersion à la vie accordéonistique en Suéde, mais le plus important fut cette musique complexe et difficile à exécuter, proposant plein d’idées nouvelles et également très belle. J’espère sincèrement que Fredrik Högberg composera encore et encore avec l’accordéon à l’esprit, au grand bénéfice du répertoire de cet instrument mais aussi pour la possibilité d’attirer et d’enchanter non seulement les musiciens mais aussi le grand public. Merci, Jörgen de ce grand moment." Traduction de quelques extraits d’un article très élogieux du journal d’Allehanda : Accordion King est une oeuvre multi-arts qui se déroule sur rien moins que trois écrans ou les images s’affichent en interaction avec la musique. S’y ajoutent des commentaires et ajouts avec l’humour inimitable de Fredrick et mettant également en scène la beauté et l’amour sensuel. Ce fut une soirée inoubliable pour le public du Kramfors People's Park. Fredrik Högberg et Jorgen Sundeqvist, accompagnés par le Nordic Chamber Orchestra, ont mêlés avec maestria le passé et le présent en ouvrant sur le futur. |

Publié le 4 juillet 2014.Le 17ème festival d’accordéon d’hiver de Kokkola se tiendra du 15 au 22 février et offrira un large panel de concerts et évènements quotidiens. Le directeur artistique en est Raimo Vertainen (photo de droite). Programme en téléchargement à : 2015Kokkola Le fil rouge de cette année alternera le neuf et l’ancien. Un programme hivernal faisant largement appel à l’accordéon sera diffusé partout – dans les villages, les marchés et les rues. Au conservatoire, on entendra des oeuvres de Wagner arrangées pour l’accordéon. Il y aura également des jeunes virtuoses, des concerts pour enfants et adultes, la musique au marché et même des chanteurs d’opéras ! En d’autres termes quelque chose pour chacun. Cette semaine évenementielle se terminera de façon traditionnelle – mais avec une forme totalement nouvelle d’un grand concert de variété de Guardia Nueva, dirigé par Raimo Vertainen le samedi 21 février.  Le 25 janvier, le New music ensemble Bent Frequency a donné un concert au Kopleff Recital Hall, Georgia State University, avec trois artistes invités : le compositeur/chef d’orchestre Juan Trigos, le guitariste Dieter Hennings, et l’accordéoniste Eva Zöllner (photo de gauche).Ce concert était l’événement final du festival de nouvelle musique du mexique qui se tenait sur une semaine. Trois oeuvres de Trigos constituaient la majeure partie du programme. L’oeuvre mettant en vedette Eva Zöllner, de Hambourg, était ‘Symphoinia’ pour accordéon solo de Georgina Derbez. Derbez est native de Mexico où elle anime la classe de composition de l’école supérieure de musique du centre national des arts. Zöllner est une artiste dont chacun ressent intuitivement et immédiatement le haut degré de sensibilité musicale, à la première écoute. Formée à l’académie de musique de Cologne, Allemagne, et à l’Académie royale danoise de musique de Copenhague, Zöllner se voue à la musique contemporaine. Il suffit qu’elle joue le début d’une pièce pour qu’auditeur veuille en entendre davantage. La nuit suivante à Eyedrum eu lieu un concert de Zöllner interprétant des pièces contemporaines pour accordéon solo, concert précédé par une prestation de musique et vidéo du compositeur natif d’Atlanta Adam Scott Neal. La moitié du programme de Zöllner se composait de cinq oeuvres contemporaines intrigantes de compositeurs d’Europe du Nord, qui exploitaient toutes les larges possibilités sonores de l’instrument. Eva Zöllner était aussi programmée en concert au Red Room de Baltimore ainsi qu’au Spectrum de New York et elle a animé des ateliers de composition dans cette ville avant de regagner l’Allemagne pour un concert à Marburg. |

 Le Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann est le plus gros festival de musique traditionnelle irlandaise de la planète, avec de l’accordéon partout.Ci-dessus une vidéo d’annonce par RTE. La chaîne irlandaise RTE a filmé musique et danse au All Ireland Fleadh Cheoil 2014 qui se tenait à Sligo en août dernier. Le premier des 6 programmes hebdomadaires a été diffusé le 23 janvier à 19h30. Ce programme de la semaine sur RTE 1 présentait le joueur de cornemuse Padraig McGovern avec l’accordéoniste Peter Carberry, le groupe Goitse (photo) et la chanteuse Maura O’Connell.  Dutch-based Bosnian accordionist Nihad Hrustanbegovic’s solo album release of ‘The Four Seaons’, by Vivaldi, takes place on Valentine's Day Saturday February 14th.The CD, on the Zefir Records label, will be available in all classical CD record shops and Libris bookshops in the Netherlands, Belgium, and Luxemburg, on ITunes, Bol.com, and via Amazon. Nihad Hrustanbegovic has recently performed ‘The Four Seaons’ in concert halls around The Netherlands, and in 2015 there are concerts forthcoming in Brussels, Paris, Vienna, and Istanbul.  Arthur Spink, from Dundee, Scotland, began his career in show business when he was just 17, having started playing the accordion at the age of 5, and competed successfully in many NAO contests. He spent many years touring the world as a popular accordion entertainer, and became a household name in Scottish music circles. In the late 1970s he switched from acoustic accordions to the Cordovox electronic accordion.Before emigrating to Australia in 1980, Arthur Spink recorded for the Beltona label in the 1960s and 70s, and made several best-selling LPs. These albums have been recently reissued on four CDs, each containing two LPs. ‘The Best of Arthur Spink - Volume One’ has all the tracks from the LPs ‘Scotland's Greatest’ and ‘Dancing Fingers’.  Highly regarded Nick Ariondo was featured with the Hollywood Studio Symphony Orchestra at a one-time orchestra performance of the award winning Godfather film (Part 1). Francis Ford Coppola’s masterpiece film was screened as the Hollywood Studio Symphony performed Nino Rota’s timeless score live, conducted by Justin Freer. The concert was held on 24th January at the Nokia Theatre, LA Live, in downtown Los Angeles. |

 The Accordions Worldwide news for the week ending February 2nd 2001 included an item describing the lengths accordionist Campbell Bettridge (New Zealand Accordion Champion 1993, 94 and 2001 and 3rd place 2002 Coupe Mondiale Piano Accordion category) went to in order to do some entertaining in Fiji. The life of an gigging accordionist is not all chauffeur driven limousines, de luxe hotels, and champagne receptions. Bravo, Campbell! ACCORDIONIST ENTERTAINS VILLAGERS - FIJI New Zealand accordionist Campbell Bettridge entertained over 200 villagers on the island of Kadavu in Fiji recently. To get to the venue Campbell had to transport his accordion via a small boat, then carry it up a winding track by torch light! The villagers enjoyed Campbell's program which included ‘Flight of the Bumblebee’ and a Rock 'n Roll medley. |

  The NAO Area Festival season 2014/2015 continues its season with the Thames Area Festival to be held at Hatfield Heath Village Hall, Bishops Stortford, Herts CM227EA on Sunday 8th Feb. The Thames Area organizer is local accordion teacher Stella Hughes and her organisation has attracted some 100 entries. The day commences at 10.00 am and the adjudicator is Larysa Bodell (picture right). The festival is one of the series held until early March throughout England, Scotland and Northern Ireland and are qualifying competitions for the NAO UK Championships 2015. At the end of February is the Northern Ireland Area Festival in Larne on Saturday 28th February. This is followed by the 2015 NAO UK Championships which in 2014 attracted nearly 300 entries. The NAO UK Championships are being from 17th – 19th April at the Adelphi Hotel, Liverpool. As well as the national finals, this event will host International Solo categories for both classical and variety music and an International Orchestra category.  The Donal Ring Ceili Band is resident on Sunday nights for dancing, 9pm until 11pm, at Christy's Hotel, Blarney, County Cork. Shand Morino accordionist Donal Ring is a veteran of the Irish music scene, with a career dating back to the 1950s. "When I started out, I paid £212 for an accordion, and £190 for my house site. But the accordion, paid through hire purchase, took me longer to clear. The early years were tough, but things got better and I still play that same Shand Morino accordion today," said Donal. Since forming his famous band in 1958, Donal Ring has kept the ceili sound alive in dance halls and theatres all over Ireland, Europe, USA and Canada. The band has recorded many CDs over the years, and made numerous TV and radio appearances — and their first ever DVD is now available. |

 An accordion master class with Teodoro Anzellotti and Stefanie Schumacher takes place from March 30th to April 2nd at the Schloss Musikakademie, Alteglofsheim, Regensburg, Bavaria, Germany. Italian-born Teodoro Anzellotti studied the accordion in Germany at the Hochschulen, Karlsruhe, and in Trossingen, and became successful in international competitions. Since the 1980s he has often been a guest at festivals and with orchestras. Teodoro Anzellotti has successfully contributed to integrating the accordion into the sphere of classical music. He has a particular interest in what is termed New Music. His discography embraces a spectrum reaching from Bach and Scarlatti to Janácek and Satie to John Cage and Matthias Pintscher. Stefanie Schumacher studied accordion and piano at the Richard Strauss Conservatory in Munich, and laterthe accordion with Teodoro Anzellotti. She teaches at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Munich, and is also a concert performer, with a special interest in contemporary music. Her CV includes many international festival appearances, and guest performances with the Munich Symphony Orchestra, the Munich Philharmonic, the BR Symphony Orchestra, and the Staatstheater in Gärtnerplatz.  Victor Prieto holds a master class focusing mainly on the topics of jazz and modern harmony on Saturday July 25th and Sunday July 26th at 5.30pm in Mugares, Ourense, Spain. This class will be for a maximum number of 8 attendees, and taught only in Spanish.
