Martynas’ World Accordion Day T-Shirt, Vilnius – Lithuaniaby Rob Howard |
Lithuanian accordion virtuoso Martynas Levickis has commissioned a new piece of art to celebrate World Accordion Day to be released on May 6th. Martynas teamed up with innovative young Baltic artist Jolita Vaitkute to create a portrait of him from the thousands of parts that make up two accordions. The portrait is made from two well-used but old and no longer playable instruments, transforming the recycled instruments into something new. It demonstrates the complexity of the many parts that make up an accordion, and it is a fun and appropriate tribute for World Accordion Day. As a treat for Martynas Levickis mailing list followers, 50 limited edition t-shirts printed with an image of this new piece of art are being given away. Anyone that is signed up to Martynas Levickis’ mailing, details on the World Accordion Day site, by Friday 6 May will be in with an opportunity to win a limited edition printed t-shirt. Martynas will select the winners randomly from all mailing list subscribers. |
