Joe Soprani to Receive Distinguished Achievement Award, PA – USA

Joe SopraniJoe Soprani, of Broomall, PA, who recently appeared with the Phillie Phanatic during the Brewers and Phillies game at Citizens Park in celebration of Italian Heritage Night, will receive the Distinguished Achievement Award presented by the District Five Grand Lodge of PA, Order Sons of Italy in America. The event will take place at The Drexelbrook, Drexelbrook & Valley Road, PA, Sunday October 21st at 4pm.

Joe Soprani, whose illustrious career has touched the lives of many as he traveled the world as accordion soloist with the United Air Force Band in Washington DC, in 1955 to the Phillie Phanatic in 2012, will be the featured soloist at this event unveiling his newly formed quintet.

Joe Soprani is the only accordionist in the history of the Philadelphia Orchestra under Eugene Ormandy to appear as featured soloist. He made five appearances with Luciano Pavarotti, won the Arthur Godfrey Talent Show and appeared on the Ed Sullivan TV Show. Soprani also represented the United States Air Force while in the Air Force Band.

Joe Soprani vividly remembers the Japan Accordion Association’s welcoming committee when he landed in Tokyo, Japan for the Band's first tour of the Far East in 1956. He is currently the in-house accordionist on the Don Giovanni Radio Show.
