39ème Festival international de la Ville de Castelfidardo - Italieby Holda Paoletti-Kampl |

 Le 39ème concours international primé pour solistes et groupes d’accordéonistes de Castelfidardo, Ancone, se tiendra du 18 au 21 septembre. Le festival est organisé avec le soutien de la municipalité et de l’association touristique Pro Loco. Le directeur artistique est Roberto Lucanero (photo de gauche). Le concours propose des catégories pour tous types d’accordéons (y compris numériques) et bandonéons, pour solo, ensemble et orchestres, et une liste de catégories d’âge et de genres musicaux comme le classique, la variété, le Jazz, et la world music. Tous les gagnants se produiront en concert au théâtre Astra. Il y aura des prix en cash, des stages et des trophées pour les mieux placés. La clôture des inscriptions est le 24 août. Cette année, pour la première fois, le concours de Castelfidardo et le membre italien de la CIA, l’IAC, se sont concertés afin que pour les candidats italiens, le concours soit qualificatif pour la Coupe mondiale qui se tiendra à Salzburg, Autriche, du 27 octobre au 2 novembre.  Accordions Now ! 2014, le 7ème festival annuel co-organisé par la New Hampshire Accordion Association et l’ Accordion Connection LLC, se tiendra du 8 au 10 août dans le beau Courtyard de Nashua, New Hampshire.Les fans d’accordéon se retrouveront pour un week end plein de musique, de chaude amitié et de repas festifs, autour de concerts, ateliers, de nuits blanches, de jam sessions, d’un « boeuf » juste-pour-rire, et du toujours populaire orchestre du festival Accordion Now ! dirigé par la co-fondatrice et directrice artistique du festival Donna Maria Regis. Tony Lovello (photo de droite) pilote le programme artistique qui sera formulé bientôt. Un prix spécial de réservation est proposé jusqu’au 31 mai.  Hauspoz Euskal Herriko Akordoei Elkartea organise le 7ème concours international de composition ‘Francisco Escudero’ et toutes informations sont maintenant disponibles. L’objectif de ce concours et la promotion de la composition pour accordéon solo et en musique de chambre.Règlement à télécharger ici : 2014Escudero Le concours est ouvert aux compositeurs de tous âges et nationalités. Il comporte une seule catégorie regroupant les oeuvres pour accordéon solo et celles de musique de chambre avec accordéon. La durée ne doit pas excéder 10 minutes. Les oeuvres de musique de chambre doivent être écrites pour un maximum de 4 musiciens dont au moins un accordéoniste. Prix des jeunes musiciens (AYM), Londres – Royaume-Uniby Rob Howard |
 Le prix des Jeunes Musiciens (AYM) est un nouvel évènement programmé le 30 mars, organisé par Hester Cockcroft et animé par Ksenija Sidorova (photo de droite) et rassemblant une dizaine de jeunes accordéonistes âgés de 18 ans maximum.Il y aura une master-classe et un concert public sous la conduite de Ksenija Sidorova. L’objectif de AYM est d’aider les jeunes gens à fort potentiel musical et issus de familles modestes à franchir les obstacles et à voir leur talent reconnu et encouragé. Le programme de cette journée est le suivant : Ksenija animera un Master-classe à la Royal Academy of Music, dimanche 30 mars de 10h30 à 13h30. - Concert public l’après midi (environ 30 minutes) dans un lieu central de Londres, possiblement la gare de Kings Cross. | Video above: Alma Quintet performing 'Deep Breathing' composed by Evan Harlan, who is also the accordionist on this video. Evan Harlan passed away on February 27, 2014 from a long term illness. Evan Harlan (accordian, piano, composer, and music director) has recorded and performed internationally with several jazz and world music ensembles including Dave Douglas, the Klezmer Conservatory Band and the Von Trapp Singers. His own quartet, Andromeda, played original music with the flavors of Americana, tango, gypsy, and other passionate traditions. In addition to concerts in the New England area, they were the house band for the American Repertory Theater's production of Snow in June in 2003. From 1995-2000, Harlan's group Excelsior played unorthodox arrangements of 20th century composers's works. Their CD, Declassified, was featured on WGBH radio's internationally distributed "Art of the States", WGBH/BBC's "The World", WBUR's "The Connection" and "Here and Now". Harlan was the recipient of a 2001 Massachusetts Cultural Council Artist Grant in music composition; he also scored numerous works for film, dance, and theater. In addition, he has played on the soundtracks of Sidney Lumet's A Stranger Among Us, and John Sayles's Lone Star. In 2001, he performed in the orchestra with Luciano Pavarotti at the Fleet Center in Boston, and has been featured in Hovanhess's Rubaiyat and Hindemith's Kammermusik 1. As a conductor of musical theater, he led Snow in June and Shlemeil the First at the American Repertory, and Fiorello at Brandeis University.   The 17th annual NAO Northern Ireland Open Championships took place on February 22nd at the Clarion Hotel, Carrickfergus, Antrim. The organizer was Clyde Johnston (picture right), there was a record 215 entries, and the adjudicators were Ivan Black, Audrey Gillian and Sarah McEvoy. This festival is qualifier for the National Accordion Organisation of the United Kingdom (NAO) Championships, which take place at the Adelphi Hotel, Liverpool, April 25th to 27th. Shaun Keaveny talks about ‘6 Music Festival’, Angus Deayton and Sean Verey chatted about their new series of ‘Pramface’, while music is from Paloma Faith, who performs ‘Can't Rely on You’. | The Accordions Worldwide news for the week ending March 3rd 2000 reported that attempts were being made to organize fortnightly meetings for accordionists. This was being done by AIDA, the International Association of Accordionists. Are these meetings still taking place/ AIDA Plans – Argentina Contributed by Florencia Herrera President of Asociación Internacional de Acordeonistas (AIDA - International Association of Accordionists), Julio Erman (alias Gasparin) plans to organize music club meetings on the second Sunday of each month. Professional and amateur accordionists are invited to attend and perform at these meetings. The AIDA currently publish an informative booklet with news of future concerts and events in South America. Their magazine ‘El Acordeón’ unfortunately stopped publication two years ago because of financial reasons, but the association hopes to resume publication of this magazine in the near future. The association currently has about 500 members. |

 There will be a dinner dance at The Greenhills Hotel, Limerick, on Saturday March 1st, 8pm, to the music of the duo Dessie Hynes and Frankie Scorr (accordion/guitar) and The Indians show band.Dessie Hynes, well known as MD of the band backing Foster & Allen, is one of Ireland’s leading Irish traditional players. The Indians, who feature a diatonic accordionist, have been one of Ireland’s most popular and accomplished show bands since the 1970s. |
