Lars Karlsson and Øivind Farmen Tour Swedenby Rob Howard |
Last week the Swedish diatonic player Lars Karlsson and the Norwegian bayan player Øivind Farmen made a very successful tour of Sweden. Six concerts were performed with a repertoire of great variety, from classical to folk music, with a combination of duos and solos. The music included works like ‘Sonata in A major’ (D. Scarlatti), ‘Mickes idépolska’ (M. Nolervik), ‘Polska efter Byss-Kalle’ (trad.), and a number of the artists’ own works. In the middle of September they go for a new concert tour, this time both in Norway and Sweden. Lars Karlsson, from a folk music background, was Nordic Diatonic Champion in 1993, and active as both a player and a composer. Øivind Farmen is classically trained, and his contest successes most notably include winning the 1996 Trophée Mondiale in Faro, Portugal. For further information email: farmen@farmen.net |
