XV International Festival "Vivat, Bayan!" in Samara - Russia

Successful competitorsThe XV International Festival "Vivat, Bayan!" ran from 12th to 14th May in Samara.

More than 100 festival participants from many regions of Russia and other countries, such as Belarus, Ukraine, Kazakhstan and China participated including some 60 soloists and 15 music groups.

Three days of competitions were held at the concert hall in the Bristol-Zhiguli Hotel for categories such as classic, variety, children, junior, adult, solo and ensembles. Picture left of two successful competitors.

A highly respected Jury was led by Jury Chairman Alexander Selivanov, Prof. of Russian Academy of Music Gnesins in Moscow and also Vice-Chairman of the CIA Music Committee.

The Jury also included honored guest from Italy, Mirco Patarini, Chairman the CIA Music Committee and Artistic Director of "Italian Accordion Culture (IAC)" which is the CIA member hosting the 2017 Coupe Mondiale in Osimo, Italy.

Vivat, Bayan! also included accordions exhibitions by Scandalli, Tula and Akko presenting the opportunity to students and teachers to test new models of accordions from these manufacturers.

The final day of the festival included a concert of prize winners and an evening concert by the very popular Sergey Voitenko and "Bayan Mix" (pictures above and below) in the Samara Philharmonic Hall to a full audience, where Sergey performed his new compositions with chamber ensemble and jazz group.

"Vivat, Bayan!" Artistic Director Sergey Voitenko said: "This Anniversary XV Edition included many new ideas such as the festival becoming more international, competition regulations modified according to international competitions, and the Junior categories divided into two categories to give more options for participants and jury. For the first time "Vivat, Bayan!" received support from "Russian Union of Youths" helping the festival become more prestigious and for many young talents, creating opportunities to start their career."
